Hello Everyone,

I'm complete illiterate when it comes to programming and my phone and desparately in need of some help.

Situation: phone turns on, but when phone mode or flight mode is selected, it remains on the SE screen and the mode I chose never gets activated. I tried to use SEUS to update my phone, but it just doesn't work - remains on the screen that tells me to take the battery out and then in, attach the USB, and press C. Nothing happens even after holding it for minutes.

Resolution: I was told flashing it would be a way to resolve it, but I have absolutely no clue how to do so - flashing, firmware, main (is firmware and main the same thing??), FS, XS++, CID for P1i? custom pack - this language is foreign to me and all new concepts to me. I have no clue what each of it does. I'm learning and trying to make sense as I'm reading different posts and information the best I can.

So, as I read the information, in order for me to flash my phone, I understand I'll need the above files. Does anyone know where or have links to where I can download the firmware main, FS, custompack for my P1i (I bought mine in Hong Kong and is using it in Canada). Also, XS++, is this a program I can use to help flash my phone?

I'm computer illiterate - would someone also be kind enough to write down some step by step instructions (or foward me a link which has it) as to how I can flash my phone, when to make use of what file at what time so I don't miss a step along the way.

The easisest way is to use the Sony Ericsson Pc Suite that came with the phone,to update the section called update software or smtng like that and proceed with what the system tells you-remove battery, sim, press the 7 key, etc. That's flashing.

Unfortunately, I've tried it and when I hold the 7 key, nothing changes. The computer screen is constantly telling me to hold the key down - no other prompt comes up. So I hold onto it for several minutes and the computer screen goes back to the first screen - which is to ask which phone I have. So I'm going in circles.

Also, I am reading the various threads, it seems using XS++ to flash is simple, but finding the correct firmware is what is giving me the headache/trouble b/c I'm afraid to use the wrong combination. For instance, I saw on a website for the P1i firmware called "...World Generic.rar" Does this file contain the main, fs, and the custompack? You see, I'm not very familiar with this and there isn't much on P1i firmware, main, fs, and custompack.

I went online and searched my phone as I bought it in Hong Kong and is using it in Canada, so I understand my phone info is:

Phone CDA 62024/74 and the provider is generic
phone firmware is CXC162037R9K009
Bluetooth is CXC162143R1D
Organizer is CXC162156R6G04
CDA is R15A

My question is even though my phone can turn on, but my phone can't even get to the phone mode so I can use my phone, would it be advisable to find any Main, FS, and custompack to flash it? I'm frustrated with myself because it seems as though something this simple is very hard for me. Help....
