Hi, I wrote this thread on my Sony Ericsson k510i. After few months I'm considering to buy the new SE G900i. I'm not rich at all, and I'll somehow buy that new phone. I use the phone very often and I believe that I do not deserve low-mid phones.

So, sticking to the subject, I definitely want to flash the g900i to improve the speaker and so. I decide to try to debranding my k510i, since it worth less than the new G900i, but my dad told me if I ever break my k510i, he will not buy me a new expensive phone because he wants k510i after he buy me the new phone. My k510i is almost 2 years old, bought brand-new.

My point is, how much the risk of debranding it? (with xs++ and i have the laptop) What should I do if I did something wrong and break the phone? Is there any detailed step-by-step guide by flashing the phone (for today I would like a new flash themes). And after that, will it remove the russian language (as an additional language, was there when i buy it) any way to put the russian language back in and leaving it with flash supported? And oh, will sony ericsson g900i be fine for 2 years of usage?

I wrote this on mobile and it might looks funny because the screen is small and i didnt check everything what i wrote. Thanks for reading! I use the opera mini.

your explanation is all in one paragraph took a little bit of reading but i think i have your solution.

debranding the phone using xs++ could be risky if you dont know what your doing but tutorials can be found on www.se-nse.com. If you have a spare £9 you could get your phone professionally unbranded. It is very simple and you can easily choose the type of firmware and language.

I used the http://davinciteam.co.uk/phones.html?phones=SE to unbrand my c905 it was really easy and they offer great online and phone support.

Thanks! And I edited the topic to make it more clear to read. Your post is not very helpful, however. I'll try to sort it out.

Many tuts are out there,. Like golem said, try searching at forums.se-nse.net, topsony.com, iprotebe.cz, 4shared.com,. Flashing or debranding phones is easy once u get the hang of it.. u need these to debrand ur phone: usb cable, usb flash drivers, xs v.3.1, main firmware(unbranded of course hehe), fs and custpacks.. Just search for tutorials and ask here what you don't understand... Hard explaining it here coz im just using my phone.... Just dont forget to backup everything (messages, contacts with myphoneexplorer), esp. the gdfs (with xs++) before doing anything to ur phone..

First ,why would you want to mod the g900? Speaker quality and loudness are great.
I have nver seen a branded g900 (mine is unlocked and unbranded) so i can't help you with unlockink/unbranding. But seriously ,if you use the same network you'r getting the phone on ,there is no reason to unlock it. And if i remember corectly ,Symbian UIQ branding is not like A200 platform branding ,it has less operator usless stuff than regular SE's...corect me if i'm wrong.

Will it remove pictures, videos, applications/games, ects. when unbranding it, it seen that myphoneexplorer didnt save any applications/games. And oh, it won't send any files from pc to phone, phone seen won't response pc because when i get the request to confirm the file transfer from pc, i clicked accept but on pc is still waiting for phone to accept. Do you have that issue? Do you know why? Is there any other good program for usb file transfer? I don't want to use bluetooth because it's slow. Thanks!

While debranding, u lose everything on your phone because your FS is flashed too(only if same as other SEs), and games and applications cant be backed up from phones installed files bcoz they are protected but u can use file transfer mode to transfer files or even latest PC suite. Its quite good. :-)

The best ways to make sure you don't screw up are -
-Use a tutorial, can be found via google
-Backup your GDFS!!! You must back it up!!!
-Don't do anything stupid like removing the usb cable or power during flashing
-Make sure your phone has a good computer connection (check if it disconnects from your pc randomly, if it does then be really careful debranding it).
