It takes forever to transfer large files. Think when we get 128Mb sticks and gonna transfer 100Mb of mp3 into the P800...
Thats gonna take a while...

Becourse it's a serial cradle and not an USB cradle. Even if it is a USB cable the cradle is basically a serial port adaptor for USB. I suppose the serial connection was put on the phone to maintain compatibility with excisting Ericsson products and for support points. But it was a huge dissapointment that the phone didn't jusy mount as a USB mass storage device on Mac.

Yes, you can transfer files without buggs but a 13Mb video file take about 5-10min to tranfer... Så in the future when we wanna transfter 80Mb of mp3 the waiting time gonna be fun...

@antonios It is USB, just not the new USB 2.0 standard.

Without people complaining and come up with ideas the producs wouldent bee as good as they are when they hit the market and the upgrading of products.

@lexus

Well said. Not the most difficult problem really if you think about, instead of just moaning about it...

Yes and no. The cable on the cradle is USB. But the port on the phone is serial just like the one on T68i. It can't handle USB 2.0 speeds. It can't even handle USB 1.1 speeds.

Yeah Tiran,
I expected it to act like a storage device too, but it seems that this is a really Mac-unfriendly device despite SE's declared devotion to the Mac-platform at the NY MacWorld last year.

How do you transfer files to your P800? I can't get Bluetooth working with it, I can only send stuff from the P800 to the Mac, not the other way around.

So a Bluetooth filetransfer is the fastest way?

@Iceduck
Uhm. Haven't done anything special. As long as the phone is a favorite in the Bluetooth File Exchange app, or it's discoverable, it should work.

@ktd
Or mount the MemoryStick via a card reader of some kind. Might be the fastest really. And the phone won't try to store it all internally until it get's the whole file down (I think that's what it does when getting a file on Bluetooth)

I tested filetransfer via Bluetooth:
10 MB took 9 minutes
so avg 54 seconds per MB!

A simple calculation:

128 MB of MP3 =
54*128/60=
115 minutes to fully load a memory stick!

I didn't try via the cradle, maybe someone have the times for that!
