perhaps if you use a bluetooth headset you don't need to take your phone out so often to handle calls as compared to have it on a leather pouch: you would still need to take it out for answering. Doesn't make much sense to me either
Also could be he means "preserved" as in if you talk on your phone and a burglar comes to snatch from your hand, its better to lose the bluetooth headset than the whole phone.
Or maybe I'm missing something?
