my C905 had that problem where the inner speaker wouldnt work and i carried on using it and used the trick of holding down the "C" button.
after about two weeks of using it like this when I slide the phone the screen will do a range of things, go blank, screen will keep sliding off to a corner, turn into TV static or green tv static.
oh and the slider scratches all the keypad.
has anyone had the second problem before? i am not pleased i spent so much money and it dies within a month!

Your screen problem will surely be down to the ribbon that connects the top and bottom circuit boards together.This goes through a gap in the slide mech and can get tight when the phone is opened.It's possible that the earpiece fault is also linked to the ribbon.Usually the ribbon comes loose in the connector on the pcb's which can affect many functions on the upper board.There's been plenty of Samsung sliders i've repaired that have had the same problem so it could be one explaination. |

Send it for repair. I had a problem where the d-pad was only working periodically and then eventually stopped working altogether. Sent it the repair centre (you have to get a returns number first) then they repaired and returned it within days. If they can't repair it they'll replace it. The only problem is that you have to revert back to an old phone for a few days.

@Rookwise
Someone else here had his C905 repaired by a local techie (not an SE service center) and the guy replaced those connectors you mentioned; voila! The earpiece now lives

My C905 broke after one month.
Sent it off to be fixed, new ear piece and it returned, dead earpiece and keypad falling off after another month.
I am thinking of selling up. Perhaps the next SE 8MP phone will be less problematic? This is far worse than the K850i situation.
If it continues I can see it being discontinued like the K850i. Perhaps the stable and reliable K800i lives on for another year?

They replaced mine after my d-pad problems. I got a week 51 build in return for the very early build I got the first time round. The whole thing feels better now, can't wait for the 'upgrade' though with snapfish and smile shutter.

I wouldn't say that the K800i as the most reliable, as it did have EROM problems.

K800 isn't the most reliable, but it's definitely more reliable than the K850.

"C905 most problematic phone ever?"
In my opinion the most problematic phones were the early firmware p990s, the k850, some K series phones with joysticks and now the C905...

Now i had a K800i silver one on O2 for nearly a year. It only crashed once and was very reliable. The fact that its been around a while its more stable now. I looked after the joystick daily by thinning out a cotton bud and cleaning out dust then blowing into it. Worked a treat. I found it to be very very reliable. Signal reception on it was the most solid i ever found on any phone i ever had. Its still no.3 in the pre pay charts. |
