I got a 3G iPhone on the weekend of release on an 18 month contract. I had a letter through during the week saying that I was able to upgrade. Just phoned them and have been offered a new phone or £150 credit on my bill if I sign up to a new 18 month contract from today. Seems a bit strange to me but i've gone for the £150. Couldn't be bothered with the hassle of selling the new handset on as i'm more tha happy with the iPhone. The way I see it, i'm getting 4 of the extra 6 months i'm signing up for free.

Anyone else had the same letter?

From O2? Yeah, you've been had, O2 would never do that, and never have done. I got one come through from a 'third party company' claiming to be T-Mobile who were saying I was elegible for upgrade after only having done it about 4 months previous!

Might want to contact O2 on 202 from your phone and see what they know of it...
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

Not usually they don't, we tend to send out a letter to invite you to upgrade early, or you ring us, O2 rarely ever ring customers for upgrades, especially that early on. You'd have to spend hundreds of pounds a month to get an upgrade that early.

I phoned up and it was O2! Got them to check and double check and they kept coming back and saying I was entitled to upgrade. Just checked my acount online and it's been credited with £150. Must be a cock up in the system but i'm not complaining!
