Does any one here think overall the c902 is not a very good phone??

My problems are

-Texting- Phones are meant for texting so why are the buttons so poor, when you type a text the buttons hardly go down which makes speed typing impossible
-Screen is too small, some may find this okay but after coming from a w910 its a real pain
-Poor camera-All the pics posted here from c902 all look great, but you will have chosen the right settings (focus etc). For normal point and shoot the shots are very poor. The pics might look good if i took forever choosing the right settings for the right weather conditions etc. By then the moments gone, so not impressed.
-Pics look bad on screen- When you take a pic the shots on the screen look slightly blurry, but when you zoom in slightly the pic looks sharper and clearer.
-Materials used- The back cover (while looking nice) is not very pratical as it is slippy and you can loose grip, which i a real bummer, i was looking forward to trying out some of the new motion games (bowling etc), but that seems unikely as i will probs throw the phone across the room.

Rant over, on the pluses the blue light when you turn on the camera looks nice and the phone looks nice as well, and the touch buttons look nice (rather have larger screen).

Do you have these problems?? (have latest firmware)

Do you think the K850 would be a suitable option?

Well I went from a k810 to a c905.

The k810 is a very very good phone but it is dated now, the whole thing is solid, the buttons etc. The k850 is just a step up from this but afaik the screen is the same size as the c902. I've never so many complaints about the c902. Maybe you need to look for a different manufacturer if you want more. LG is not so bad. Or if you can afford it then the G1.
Tbh it sounds like you want a c905, maybe you need to start screwing for a contract that gives you one.

just re-looking at the c902 (I almost got fobbed off with one by orange a couple of months ago).. it's a lovely phone

you should be happy
it's blatantly gonna be better than any other option at that range

i did not experienced any of the problems you mentioned....

- (your statement strange) i think it's perfect for texting.... (not as good as my P990 of course.... )

- you are right about the screen size

- i don't agree with you about the camera..... after 3 months of usage i think it has a GREAT and FANTASTIC camera.......... ( i must say that i use my own modded camdriver..... i am still testing it to increase the flash power and adding a custom night mode with focus (aka night portrait) instead of the document mode... will share it when all tests are done.... i love the results it produces.). and i shoot on auto in 95% of the shots.... live and vibrant shining colors and details.

- it's not too blurry but it's inevitable... for fast browsing the pictures; it should create that thumbnail.

- the materials... are you kidding?? ... i think the materials and design are the best part of this phone... love the feeling of metal finish... (but i must say that the things printed on the metal will wear off such as the Cyber-Shot logo on the back of the phone)

- no i don't have these problems (also on the latest firmware)

- i had the K850 for a couple of weeks... texting with it is not difficult but... but it's far more harder than the C902 (because of the d-pad being between the keypad)...

Go for the K850i, takes amazing shots without editing the settings, screen is the same size as the W910i so good for you, texting is easy as the buttons are far apart - you can even text during class with the phone in your back it's that easy, texting without looking. (Although you shouldn't ) Um, the screen is a good brightness and displays the pictures well. Lastly you want grip, um...well you'd get better grip then with the C902 as the size is bigger, but this is not a disadvantage - the bigger style of phone means it is more ergonomically correct and fits comfortably in your hand. You might find the smooth finish annoying, but I don't really have a problem - It's never fallen out of my hand like soap, so alls good.
Lastly most of the problems are gone, some still persist but still name me a phone witch is bug free? Just update it to the latest firmware and you'll be fine (although I am still on the very first firmware version lol never had time to update...)

K850i = Go for it, I recommend it 100%

100 times better then the C902 Plus does having a phone with the original Kyber shot 'K' series not sound better then 'C'?

Why anybody would buy a 'w' SE phone is beyond me. You want a camera right? Either get used to the c902 or get a k850.

Or you could get an 120fps (@ 320 × 240) LG Viewty for good video recording and widescreen divX playback.

if you type a lot on your phone; then get a P1i.... i had my friend's P1i for a week and man!!.. typing is a real pleasure with it.

keep in mind that nothing can reach the typing capability of the P990i but due to the lack of RAM and being VERY old (i have mine since 2 years ago); it's unsuggestible.

Haha, I've just gone froma W910 to C902, and I'm gona return it and get the W705.

- Buttons too stiff for texting, makes my fingers hurt.
- Screen IS too small.
- Camera hasn't impressed me, not as good as K850.
- Can't get the back cover off unless I use a knife.

Decided I prefer slider phones so I'm gona return it and wait for the W705.

In my opinion the k850i is great, mine way made in late 07 so it's one of the earlier ones made
Now to go over the points:
Texting- Not the best, but mind you my idea of good is the n93's keypad which is gloriously large and comfy. It's pretty good, decent amount of feedback and of course lots of space between keys makes them easy to indentify when not looking.
Screen-bigger than the c902. end of story. and i take it that it'd be brighter and more contrasty overall( it's really good)
Poor camera- I think in general SE have had better days with their camera phones i haven't used a c902 but i own a n82(which i daresay is the best 5mpx camera on a phone around) and the k850i's camera is good enough that i don't have any problems taking it instead of the n82(since the n82 is ugly)-xenon flash is miles ahead of the photoflash
Materials-i gotta hand it to the c902- it seems like a solidly built phone with the metal as well. k850i is fine, only creaks near the bottom part

so the point i'd say it'd b a hard choice but i'd rather have the k850i

went from the c902 to w902 .... much better keypad with a bigger screen
and the same camera - result :-]
The build of the W902 is no way as good as the c902 but hey I've got
a phone that's just about perfect for me !

The only time the camera has a problem is in low light, but that's to
be expected as it's NOT a digital camera !!!!

Well i might as well stick with my c902 as there arnt that many se phones out at the moment (in store). Thinking G705 but no one knows over here when it will be out, G900 never was available over here (a day at most).

Hopefully the C902 succesor will come along (i expect) and i will get that but only after 10months or so after all the problems have gone(I now expect all new se phones to have a lot of bugs or design problems)
