hi. i think this is a really basic request but i've been through the forums and i'm not sure of the answer, and i really don't want to mess up my phone. i have a k810 that reports the following in xs++ :
Platform: DB2020
OTP CID: 51
EROM CID: 53
EROM Color: Red
Phone ID: K810
Region: HONG_KONG
CDA: CDA102779/30 R10A
Firmware Version: R8BA024
EROM: R3A022

i would like to change the region from hong_kong to europe_5. i've tried a few things, using xs++/far manager/sefp/jdflasher and the following files :
K810_R8BA024_FS_EUROPE_5_RED53.fbn
K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_RED53.mbn
but without luck. i think this is because it is cid53.

i've seen the recent posts about patching cid53 phones.

am i now able to perform this change ? if so, would someone be kind enough to give me an idiot's guide on how it do it ?

many thanks.

if you want to patch your phone, you can read this tutorial: How To Patching Your CID53 Phone. now, if you want to change your firmware, read this tutorial: Flash K800 CID53 with K810 software CID53 (for begginers).

hi. thanks for the response. in my ignorance, i don't even know whether what i'm trying to do is classed as patching or a firmware change (i think it is the latter). once i have amended the region i plan to simply use seus to maintain the updates. the second link you sent is something i had already tried, but this resulted in the phone not starting correctly and i had to use seus to get it back to it's original state. i should have mentioned that as well as the main and fs files, i also used :
HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_14_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5
also, i didn't do the K800 lighteffects bit as i have a k810, not a k800. is this correct ? and is this classed as patching and thus not possible via this method on a cid53 phone ? thanks again.

ok, you're just trying to get your k810 changed to a different region, don you?

the files you mentioned before, K810_R8BA024_FS_EUROPE_5_RED53.fbn and K810_R8BA024_MAIN_GENERIC_RED53.mbn, are the ones you need to do so. let me remember you that you need the custom pack. in this case: HB1-06_Gen_CDA102568_14_R8A_GENERIC_EUROPE_5(using this you wont get the "contact your service provider" error).

forget about the light effects. i was just giving you a tutorial on how to flash your phone. that process is for making the k800 to have the k810's light effects.

it seems you dont wanna patch your phone then. ok

hi. once again, thanks for the response. i had another go and it did the same thing as last time, it all worked but afterwards the sim pin prompt didn't display properly and didn't accept what i was typing. however, this time i let seus update the phone even though it said it was at the latest level. that seemed to fix it and the phone looks fine :
Platform: DB2020
OTP CID: 51
EROM CID: 53
EROM Color: Red
Phone ID: K810
Region: EUROPE_5
CDA: CDA102568/14 R8A
Firmware Version: R8BA024
EROM: R3A022
i'm not sure what else will have changed apart from the different languages but the first thing i notice is that i have nearly full signal strength at home whereas before i had none at all. woo hoo !
