K800i - LCD working OK except screen always very dark
Overnight my screen has suddenly gone very very dark. I can read the LCD, just about, with a bright torch and I can see that it is otherwise performing OK.

I did not do anything to cause the change in the screen but I have now:
(1)
Flashed the sofware - firstly using SE's website and when that did not fix the screen, I upgraded to Wotan CID53 (whcih loaded easily).

(2)
Taken the phone apart to see if there was any obvious fault or if there was an obviously faulty "backlight" but it seems that there is no separate backlight / bulb or LED.

So I assume that the fault is not with the software and that there is no replacement bulb or LED needed. I guess the fault is in the hardware either I need to replace the LCD (but why is it working perfectly otherwise) or there is something in the "chip" that is faulty.

Any ideas on how I can narrow down the fault further would be much appreciated. Cheers.

I visted a phone shop yesterday and the bloke told me, without exuding any confidence, that "oh yes a new screen should fix that". However, I notice that the K800i's battery is flat today. It normally lasts 4 days + and I only charged it fully yesterday.

The dark screen is like you get when the phone keyboard lock is on before you unlock the keyboard.

Could the premature battery drain and the dark screen be connected faults ?
