You can download the email settings for your phone at www.sonyericsson.com/support. By the way, what email account are you going to configure? Yahoo mail or gmail? You can actually configure them manually.

I am using yahoo email. I have had sony ericsson configure it from their support people. It does not work. I can not even get yahoo mail to work on the internet. I can get all other websites but not yahoo mail.
The setting all came from sony sricsson. What can be the matter with my set? I will be grateful if at least one of the problems can be solved so can save some money going to the cafe eery day.

Try to use the following settings on your phone:

> Go to Menu>Messaging>Email>Settings
> Select "New Account" then enter the Account Name (Example: Yahoo! IMAP)
> Select the Data Account on the option labeled "Connect Using" (Example: Smart Internet or myGlobe INET)
> Email address: (Complete Email Address)
> Connection type: IMAP4
> Incoming server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
> Username: (Complete Email Address)
> Password: (Yahoo! Mail Password)
> Outgoing server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
> Advanced settings:
>> Encryption: No Encryption
>> Outgoing username: (Complete Email Address)
>> Outgoing password: (Yahoo! Mail Password)
>> Incoming port: 143
>> Outgoing port: 25

This works perfectly on my phone.

The reason why you are being asked for the APN, username and password is because you don't have the internet settings yet on your phone. Contact your service provider to get the internet settings for your phone. Smart Internet and myGlobe INET are just examples. Those are internet settings here in the philippines. By the way, you can also try getting the internet settings for your phone at www.sonyericsson.com/support.

I think the problem is only with the settings. Make sure that you configured your phone properly with the settings that I posted. If you already did that and still it's not working, better to contact your network provider to ask for assistance in setting up your Yahoo! Mail account on your phone.

Yah that's correct. You can just simply use any mobile web browser to access your emails but one of the advantages of having your email accounts configured on the phone is that you can receive your emails on your phone like a normal text message. There's actually an option to automatically send/receive at an interval like 4 times a day, something like that.
