I have an o2 supplied K850i which is 15 months into a 2 year contract and today the phone has packed in , similar to the BROD issue.

Will it be covered by o2 for repair ? and if so can i take it into an o2 store if i bought it from them online ?

Doubt it will be covered as its over 12 months old, 24 month contract unfortunatly doesnt mean 24 month warranty cover

It was purchased inthe UK and i think comes with a 2 yr warranty from SE but never had a contract before so not sure if im covered for more than 12 months.
Seems to be a hardware fault as ive reflashed through SEUS but screen keeps going black and phone freezes up

O2 will ALWAYS give a warranty for their own repairs thats the same length as the contract, so your covered

Pop into one of our shops, they look up your receipt, send it away and it comes back repaired or replaced. Granted, it can take 7-14 days, but we do offer a loan phone service (£25.00 deposit which you get back as soon as you bring the phone back) which will be like a Nokia 2760 or Samsung E870, just something to get you back on your feet. Or you can just use one of your old phones if you like.

Just a quick update..

Took the phone into an o2 store today complete with all details IMEI etc and they couldnt find my receipt in the system, after much discussion they have "for now " kept the phone to send away on monday, still talk of me having to pay for the repair , grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I'm covered for the length of my contract, phones 14month into a 2 yr deal and it seems its up to me to prove that I took a 2yr contract by supplying the returns label that came with the phone, but i dont have it.

Couldnt they just check my payments !!!!!!

Hmm, if they look on Dispatch Database (where all receipts, online or over the phone or instore, are kept), they'd find it...

Depends on your store I suppose, thats our first port of call for receipts. Failing that, I guess ringing O2 and asking if they can fax a proof of purchase to your local store would be the next step? Or give me your IMEI and I'll try and look it up on Monday lol

@Daedalus85
Thanks for keep replying to this thread,

Because i bought online i dont have any paperwork but i have kept some of the original packaging (no returns label) and every e-mail that o2 have ever sent me including all payments ,the original order acknowledgement and the confirmation of order/despatch , which have an order number on them.

I also have an o2 login which shows my account number and the term of contract , online 25 24 months, renewal date 28 oct 2009 .

Will they accept these as proof if necessary ? I tried phoning the store when i got home but alas nobody answered.

Unfortunately no, none of those things will work. It's quite annoying how limited our powers are.

You would have gotten a 'receipt' of sorts in the box your phone came in. Usually, it's an A4 piece of paper, with not alot on it other than your name and the IMEI and date of dispatch to you, with a freepost sticker in the bottom left hand corner that takes up about 1/4 of the page. The paper is quite thick due to the sticky paper backing.

If you can't find it, O2 stores are supposed to be able to find it. I'd ask to speak to their manager and tell them you were told by 'O2 customer services' to get them to look on 'dispatch database'.

Right time to add my (bit) to this thread.
What you need to do is call o2 cust service on 202 from your mobile phone. Since the phone was bought online, o2 cust service will have a record of that. They will fax it down to the store your in, so the store can send your handset off for repair. What to do is, go into the store, call o2 cust service from the store, get the fax number of the store, and ask the advisor to send proof of purchase of your mobile to the store your in. The store will get this, and then they will go ahead and book your handset in for repair.

Final update.
Got a text from o2 yesterday to say phone was back from repair centre and ready for collection.

Called at my local store today and picked it up, NO CHARGE as was covered by my contract and no mention of providing any proof.

Not sure what they did to it but was assured it had been away and came with a covering letter saying the fault had been identified and repaired and had also had the softwear updated.

Am astounded at the level of service, it took 6 days from taking into store to being repaired and ready for collection and all this with a weekend and New year holiday, way to go o2 !!
