wel gps works on the basis that the satellites can actually "see" you, so it's common sense you're going to have trouble indoors and when it's in your pocket, they're less efficient when you're around tall buildings too as well as cloudy days...
Check to see if you have enabled a-gps on your c905, i'm betting it's not enabled while it is enabled on your friends c702, since a-gps uses telephone networks to do most of the hard work for the gps satellites. My n82 for example takes about a minute and a half to get a good gps lock without a-gps, while with a-gps it's closer to around a 10 second lock on, thats outdoors. Indoors it can take a loooong time without a-gps enabled. And find out where your gps receiver is located and try to keep it exposed

well my only gps phone is a n82 and the gps receiver is at the top of my phone, common sense would dictate it should be there as well on the c905. Yea as i said earlier it's normal for gps to have trouble indoors and to take a long time to get a lock, especially on a cold start- 5 minutes plus, subsequent times should b a lot faster though. But if you think there really is a problem then um...usual thing is to check you have the latest firmware and if that doesn't work take it to the shop |

I think it's a material/hardware problem and i don't think you can change the gps part only.

On the c905 the gps receiver is in that bump on the other side of the earpiece (on the top at the back). Also you must have R1BA042 or later firmware for the gps to work properly.

No you don't. My C905's GPS worked on the early firmware releases. You've just got to have it in a situation where it has good view of the sky!Complaining because it doesn't work in a house is not evidence of a fault!
Enable A-GPS, stand outside and open the Status Info menu. Just wait for a while, and eventually the phone will find all the sats and lock on (they will turn green on the radar map). Might take a couple of minutes, but only the first time. After that, it will lock on very quickly. Just keep A-GPS enabled to help it.
I had problems getting mine to work first time, but all I needed was a clear view of the sky, and in a few minutes it was up and running.

Ok, I just read that 038 firmware can take like 10 minutes to get a lock, and thats way too much

No that's just poor information that has come from not using the GPS properly. I was guilty of the same thing. You just need to stand outside and get that initial fix. |

but many at times my R1BA042 takes about 6 minutes - 10 minutes to get lock on.

You'll need a-gps enabled, in addition to the GRPS/3G working. |

@Marty Mcfly: "Complaining because it doesn't work in a house is not evidence of a fault! "---exactly wat i've been saying, it'd be like complaining that your phone can't find reception when put in a box made of lead
@Bryan: Well i never use a-gps i'm happy to wait a minute, no pun intended. But most mapping applications would charge you gprs data fees as well i would assume(well unless you preload the map via wifi earlier
@Aloe: so you said you got 5 sattelites after 5 mintes? Is that how it is everytime?
