I bought a C905 on the day of the release and so far I haven't had too much problems with it. The first one had a malfunctioning lens cover that broke within the DOA week so I just returned it and got a new one.

What I really miss from my K800i though is autofocus while recording. I'm not expecting continuous autofocus but at least the ability to focus before starting to record. If it was possible on the K800i it must surely be possible with the C905?

Any ideas if this will be possible to apply via homemade software?

It seems like a too serious flaw to be a mistake... More like a "Ooops! We're competing with our other line of products if we make it too competent." issue. =)

So will I have to make do with fixed focus in video recording mode or do we see a fix for this on the horizon?

Tried searching for related threads but found none to my big surprise.

Before you start videotaping, take a close-up picture with the camera, then go to the video menu and start videotaping. Then image will remain focused like in the picture.
