Hi, im lookin for a new camera phone. i like to take lots of pictures of friends and when im on vacation and upload them to facebook etc etc hehhe

I was thinkin about getting a 5mp camera phone but when i zoom in full size, theres alot of noise and distortion. Now when i zoom into a 8mp camera phone pic they look equal to that of a digital camera quality. not sure if i should even spend the extra cash on a 8mp one though...also a good video recorder would be an extra bonus!

anyways i was scoping these phones as potential candidates:

Sony Ericson C905
Samsung Innov8 ** really liking this one**

if you guys could provide any insight or reccommend me some more phones that would be awesome!

Well, despite taking inferior daylight shots, the C905 wins over the INNOV8 hands-down... for me at least. That Xenon flash has proven to be extremely useful. I can't imagine how I would have been able to take even half of my shots without it. The INNOV8, in comparison, has a measly LED flash (and so does the C905 additionaly - for video recording).

Have a look at the photos posted in the gallery and make up your own mind. Do also read the reviews posted elsewhere, for example PhoneArena's two 8 MP camphone shootouts here and here.

Don't expect to get a fair and balanced view of any non-SE phone on this site. Remember: ESATO is reverse for Only Talk About Sony Ericsson.

to be brutally honest....

go for a 5mp camphone with decent daytime and nightime quality but dont use the zoom as its only digital (on the majority of phones!) zoom and you arent going to get the same quality as an optical zoom digicam...

If i take any pics with my phone and want to zoom in on something do the zooming on photoshop or some other image editing program... you'll get a better result than using the digital zoom...

8MP cams are all well and good but again u need an optical zoom and not a digital zoom to get the best results.

@AbuBasim, gforce23: come to think of it, you guys are right...

@Brightspark: he was merely touting another idea for ESATO's abbreviation, doesn't necessarily mean that he trusts .

Most DSLRs suffer in low light so i cant expect C905 to do any better. That leaves daylight and you already admit INNOV8 is better.

I would have agreed if you said 'camera phones'. It doesn't get much better than with a dSLR!

thanks for all the replies!

a little update on my research for a new camera phone..

ive decided not to go with the innov8 as the price range is a bit steep and the reviews about its camera quality arent that GREAT, though it is an all around great phone.

been eyeing the samsung g800 and g600 but read some mixed reviews. they say that the camera is better on the g600 than the g800?

I don't like Samsung camera phones at all. If you look at full size pictures of INNOV8 for example, they have a lot of blur, not sharp at all.

It seems that LG Renoir takes some nice photos, take a look here:

I would go for either C905 or LG Renoir, Samsungs suck big time IMO.

the lg renoir takes some amazing pictures but its a bit pricey...even more than the c905..i think ill stick to 5mp camera phones for now
