Yes, I recently bought from them.
In short, they are not total scammers, but what they are doing is pretty unethical.
They ship your goods from Hong Kong without prepaying the customs charges. So when they arrive you get a bill for VAT and import duty. In my case the extra charges actually made fizi.com more expensive than buying from Amazon!

Ah!
that'll stop me buying a Vertu from them then, I'm not paying VAT on one!
Cheers

In all my years of shipping stuff to UK and Australia, I don't think I have ever heard of prepaying customs charges, it is always the receivers responsibility.
I'm not even sure how it could be prepayed as, how would someone in Hong Kong know exactly how UK customs charges work and how much the admin fee would be, or what is chargeable and at what value level etc etc? There are just too many variables
I don't see this as an issue at all and fully expect to receive a VAT bill, especially if the goods are coming via a courier. If items come by standard post then often they can get through without being caught.

Out to deceive on actual cost
I bought a digital camera mid December from Fizi.com (which use a Midlands address on their website). BEWARE as you will probably receive a bill for import duties well after the 7 day return date as they ship from Hong Kong. My extra charge was £23.81 which would have made the actual product more expensive than other reputable on-line suppliers.
They hide the 'possibility' of an extra charge within the 1,740 word long Terms & Conditions (obviously towards the bottom)!!!
What a rip-off!
They know exactly what they are doing and when you call them they almost read off a script about the fact that you agreed to their T&Cs so therefore understood about the 'possible' additional charge.
So basically, if you don't mind guessing what you may eventually pay for a product use Fizi.com - if you do then DON'T TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE!!!! |

Ordered an LG phone from the Fizi.com website on 1st April 2011. Blurb on website said delivery would be 3-5 days after despatch. They fail to make it clear to you that despatch is from Hong Kong. They did assure me later that there would be no extra custom charges.
I have had 2 promises from customer services that this will be delivered very shortly even getting a tracking number from UPS dated 14th April. However 6 days later and UPS have not even received the phone to deliver.
Do not be taken in by their cheap prices as I would guess that the products are of an inferior quality. The customer service certainly is.
Have requested a full refund and hold my breath. |
