Dear Esato members,
I posted a request to Sony Ericsson on http://getsatisfaction.com/ it would be great if people who feel the same about this would support me. The request is about producing an almost duplicate successor to the w810i (the best phone ever made).
You can find the request here: http://getsatisfaction.com/er[....]e_make_an_upgrade_to_the_w810i

I would not agree, the W902, to start, is significantly bigger (taller) than the w810i, uses a different button layout etc.
You might call me picky, but I imagine it would be very easy for Sony Ericsson to simply upgrade some hardware on the old w810i and sell it as a new phone. |

This seems a very pointless exercise.

Maybe, but I think it's worth a shot.
As I cannot post anymore messages on my first day as a new member I respond to messages below in this message.
I don't ask to start restart production of the w810i, I would be better of searching for one that has been used very little.
I am asking to update it to modern hardware size and specs, but keep everything else the same.

So what you are asking to do is start making a phone again that they stopped making about 2 years ago.

I think that this idea is useless... Remember that making what you are proposing never had succes (e.g. Razr V3i)... Apart of the fact that the W902 for many W810 users is a good successor it would be difficult to fit a 2.2" or even 2.4" screen in such a "short" design... |

Another fact is that you want the old keypad layout, but that's long gone in the A100 phones, this is present day and it's A200 with the totally redesigned keypad (which in my opinion is a great improvement) the W810i was not that amazing really, it was not one of SE's highlight's phone like the K750i One person signing up for that is not going to make a massive company to start producing a new handset. |

<_< What? You want SE to remkae the w810 with new hardware? Im sorry but what? Seriosuly. The A200 platform uses the new button style which is much more useful then the old style and putting it on the w810 would seem a bit what retarded. Not to mention the W902 surely is the new current W810. I mean it should sell sooner or later as much as it did. And is the only 5MP one like how the W810 was one of the firsts. So instead of making a stupid idea like this embrace the W902. |

Excuse me all, but I think Wilgert's idea is not stupid at all. Some models are really nice, we've seen one of them come back powered up: the T650 in memory of T610, so having a model we like with better hardware and software is not something to laugh about. I myself have sorta made my dream come true (at least in appearance).
Now, I think you all have a point in mentioning that it's very unlikely Sony Ericsson will be movilized to such petition. But hey, it's fair to wish something like this, right?

Yes, Its fair to wish something like this but in this case the device being wished for technicaly is already available (W902).

W902 IS the W810 of 2008. It even sparkled in me the same emotions I felt when I first held the W810.
