Hello people. I purchased p1i phone recently and i am having this strange problem that my phone restarts every evening in almost the same time. Message is restarting phone in order to impove performance. I didnt even manage to use the phone properly, dont have any costum aplications and stuff. I tried to install the new software via sonyericsson update tool but the problem persists. I browsed thru the forum to check for topic and i saw that some other users had the same problem but i could not find any solution (if there is any). So if anyone knows is there any way to stop it from happening or i am just stuck with it. Thanks in forward and pardon my English.

On the home screen: JU * JD * JD *
JU/JD = move the jog dial up/down, respectively
* = press the * button

The service menu will appear. Click on service info->SIM locks. Check if the padlocks are open (unbranded) or not.

there seems to be some confusion in this topic.

performance restarts are not restricted to branded phones, and checking locks is absolutely no guarantee that a phone is branded

performance restarts have been around since the P800 but in all that time I have never seen any specifications written on what metrics the firmware uses to decide that a restart is required, though generally is was assumed that it was largely memory related, but that should not be the case in the P1

Well why don't you just tell the guy to update the phone's firmware... It may cause problems if he is running an older firmware or some software fault... You can find the Update Service application for download at www.sonyericsson.com

Well i already updated my phones firmware. i wrote that in the original topic. Nothing much to othervise to keep looking if some specific thing causes the crash, but i am not really sure. Usually it happens at the evening while I am not using my phone much.

That was happening a lot with first editions of UIQ3 devices, but the problem was mostly resolved with the later firmwares. I hadn't had a restart on my P990 since R5... What is your current firmware ( just the ORGANIZER version )? You should try to Master Reset your phone...it helps in more than a few cases, although the fact that the restarts are happening at the same time is a bit confusing ...

On the standby screen tap More > Status and tell us what you see under 'Organiser' and 'CDA'.

I had mine for a year and a half with Voda branding and had a maximum of 4 days stand-by after which it restarted.After debranding it and updating to the latest FW I get 1-5 restarts per day, EVERYDAY with no exception. It's related to memory use.Whenever the browser encounters a bigger html site i'm certain it'll restart and usually does. I'll master reset one of these days and see. But I guess there is nothing you can do,except for a master reset and a clean start again. And don't install every crappy beta you come across,it'll load your system.

The strange is that phone at the time of restart is idle and i was testing not to use phone entire day just not to use memory, and it still happens. At least I am not the only one ^^

Cheers everyone for the information

Your phone is unbranded and your firmware is the latest version of Generic World 1.

You could take out the memory stick, format (or master reset) your phone and try it for a few days without installing any 3rd party apps.

And do NOT restore a backup.

Use it for a few days and tell us how it goes...
