The only con I can think of at the moment is that it's OS is dead. That means no further support from devs. etc.

Why wrong? In a year's time UIQ will be obsolete (even more than now ) and further compatibility with the unified Symbian OS will likely be broken.

Pros:
Half-QWERTY (bested only by some BBs & WinMo phones), 2.6" touchscreen, side jog dial and back key combo, ample RAM for multi-tasking, WiFi b, UIQ3 mods, looks better than most QWERTY phones.

Cons:
Apps and menus take 2-3 seconds more to open than on comparable S60 devices, no camera lens cover, camera quality is average, lack of WiFi g, no HSDPA or EDGE for faster connectivity over a cell phone network

wrong because you seem to know nothing about current UIQ scene...apps have been coming out more frequently now than before...and there´s a big independ freeware and hacks scene...

not only that, we got some of the best browsers available for mobiles, like opera 9.5 or ozone, that are still being improved (more versions will come out)

That's true, no HSDPA but why bring Edge into discussion when you have 3G?
Camera quality is superb(even when compared to 5 MP phone cameras),if you don't believe me,see my blog,I've posted lots of pictures taken with the P1i. Camera lens cover? Not every1 cares cuz the lens are recessed anyway. With the others I pretty much agree.

Thanks to all who has replied and well discussion upon the P1i. I have gained a lot more than my knowledge from this discussion and from this informational thread.

3G isn't available in every country across the world. I've been to a few Asian countries this year where EDGE was the fastest way to access the web.

Mate, are you talking about chinese-manufactured 5MP cameras that are available for a few bucks? Ever tried using an N82? I'm not bashing the P1's camera module by any measure but claiming that it takes "superb" snaps is a bit of misnomer. I can provide you with a comparo of shots of the same subject from the P1, N95 and N82 (the ones you claim are worse than the P1i) next week. You be the judge.

You might not care about the lens cover but I certainly do. There's a reason why P&S or SLR cameras have their lens protected by a cover or active slide.
