My Sony Ericsson P1i Touch screen has stopped working. The screen was dirty so I switched it off and wiped it with a soft cloth and it stopped working ever since. I manage to use the keypad and the roller by the side but there are so many things you cannot do on the phone without the touch screen. Can anyone assist me with a solution?

Did you apply too much pressure while cleaning the screen or did you use any kind of liquid?

No I didn't apply too much pressure and didn't use any liquid either. Someone suggested I do a factory reset. What u think?

As far as I know, the touch-screen is the most upper layer in ur display, and it could be remove from the display.
Maybe the connector between touchscreen layer and lcd layer has unplugged.
So,I believe you should check it to the SE Centre.

more likely it's that the connector for the touchscreen has come loose from the mainboard - I suggest opening the phone and clicking it back...

I used to get this if a bit of dirt was stuck at the edge under the surround so it was always making a touch contact, try to clean around the edge with a piece of thin card or paper between surround and screen. You may have to take the covers off to do it thorough, I did it once its not too hard.

Go to service test, choose touchscreen, and test your touchscreen, restart your phone.

If not, do hard reset. If not, reflash. If not, disassemble and check the internal wirings.

Cheers.
