How necessary is isurance? Is it worth paying an extra £7 a month for it? I'm usually quite careful with my phone, but I'm getting a new expensive phone and don't want it to break accidently. Any advice?

yes & no. if you like peace of mind, go for it. it's sods law if you baby something for over a year you'll wonder why you insured it. i say the best insurance is you. don't leave it around, don't drop it. don't wear it on a belt where people can snatch it.

i think it's bad enough if you loose or break something, insurance or not. i used to be terrible loosing wallets & phones. i've learned to be more careful & the last 4 or 5 years i've not lost anything. just be careful.

was at bristol station years ago, lost my phone. went to the police station there. the pc was trying to accuse my of insurance fraud, even though i had no insurance!!

I personally never have it because I don't have a phone long enough to warrant it. However, I know people who have lived by it (a collegue managed to get O2 to swap his N81 for an E90 because it'd broken so many times!), and it's really helped them out, others not so much.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for.

If you can get it for cheap, it's worth it. I'm going to get mine from my bank through advantage blue. Costs 6.50 a month and i can choose breakdown cover mobile phone insurance or something else, and they'll give me a young person's railcard for signing up. I also get a 3 month cooling off period where if i don't like it, i get the 19.50 back and keep the railcard

You only really need insurance if you are careless with your phone.
The warranty covers for any faults that occur with the phone but if you damage it then you need to fork out for the repair.
I have kept my old phone so I have something to fall back on.

Banks normally give you free phone insurance, discounts and offers for other things if you take up one of their current accounts (costs £5 or so a month), better value for money
