New firmware for C905, at least for Sim Free UK handsets (Western Europe).
Now on R1BA042 and R6A018 (R1BA038 before)
Seems to have fixed the camera crashing when using any scene mode other than Auto, but still very slow on Twilight settings, like it's running low on memory, even when using after booting. Seems to be ok, nothing obviously new added so mainly all behind the scenes stuff I imagine.
Don't have a changelog so will see how it goes over time...

That's because the Twilight modes increase the exposure time to let in more light. That means that every frame needs more time in order to be captured, hence the lagging.
It's not much of a bug.

Hmm well I'm on 042 now and things are ok except I can't read any email, either via GPRS or WiFi. Internet browsing is fine. I've deleted and re-created my email settings to no avail. Anyone else have this problem? I'm on Orange UK but my phone is unbranded Western Europe. |

thanks people. I knew twilight would be slower but didn't expect it that slow! My samsung i8510 8mp is not as sluggish in night mode at all but it may work differently. Bigger lense on it and so on...
My original problem though was that on anything other than auto, if i took a photo, it would freeze, the word saving wouldn't appear, and then the whole app would shut down. When checking the photo wouldn't be stored either. This was from new with nothing else installed etc etc.
Fixed now though anyhow, no other problems yet, so happy again!

Yup; that's how I do it. Worked ok before upgrade; now it does not. Anyone else experience this; it just says 'connecting' when I try and check email. May I remind you it does this via 2g/3g and wifi.

I was more concerned that the firmware update wiped all my contact info (not the numbers, but the pictures, ringtones etc) and added back all the dross i'd deleted when i got the phone
that's not massively helpful - even backing up contacts before doing it wasn't any help
hopefully, future upgrades won't do this

If you don't want that to happen use a FOTA.

MyPhoneExplorer can also help with that.

I Currently have an un modded C905, with orange, the firmware is the general orange branded stuff, I wanted to know would there be any performance benifits to having this phone flashed to the generic unbranded version. I have noticed that my phones battery only lasts 2 days, ( i miss my K850 for battery duration) does anyone know if this is normal and woudl a flash sort this problem out??
It's not the pace of life that concerns me, it's the sudden stop at the end. |

I debranded my Orange phone and it works much better, the battery seems better and GPS, etc is much improved!

Does the new firmware effect the battery in anyway? My last two Sony phones lost some battery time after firmware updates. I'm wondering if it's the same with the C905? |

I've found that my battery is lasting longer now it has been debranded. |
