SE K800i vs T700 - Camara comparison |

My T700 finally arrived today, and I took a few pictures with both my K800i and T700 to compare the camera. My pictures are quite terrible though, so dont count on them as a reliable comparison. Neither Flash on the K800i, nor the LED light on the T700 were used as the K800i's flash already puts it leagues ahead of the T700 for picture quality, but Autofocus was used on the K800i, which the T700 doesnt have. Each picture was taken several times with each phone, and (ashamingly), my best shot of each picture was selected from each phone. Again, I'm a terrible snapper, also a reason why I'm not really interested in the C905 as I dont really use my phone as a camera anyway.

And heres the picture comparisons. I took snaps of my PC peripherals and keyboard along with a music score opened up to compare the cameras. Notice that these are the best pictures I managed to take, and that the K800i takes a lot clearer and sharper pictures with flash enabled, but it was disabled as the LED light on the T700i really does nothing in comparison in a moderately lighted room. I actually couldnt see much difference with the lack of autofocus, and other then any blurriness which is my fault, not the phones, the only real difference is that the K800i takes warmer pictures with more orange in them, and the T700 takes cooler ones with a little more blue.

I'm going to miss the Flash, but the lack of autofocus doesnt really seem to make that big a difference here, maybe it does in outdoor pictures, but I'm not a photographer, so it doesnt really bother me
The good thing about the T700 is its price - they are currently selling for £149 brand new on Ebay, this is the one that I got and the company turned out to be very good - great quality replies to my questions, and they were prepared to send me a Red one as a replacement if my Silver one didnt arrive after 15 days, but it arrived on the 8th day after dispatch thanks to Royal Mail messing up with the delivery and causing a delay.

I paid £159 for mine, but they then went down to £149 which wasnt fair. But it is still worth what I paid so I'm still happy.

Thanks for your efforts in this comparison. Many people say the T700 has a poor camera without even having seen evidence but cleary it does not. Another good non A/F camera from  ! |

Even with and without auto focus, I still find it just as difficult to take clear pictures with both phones. Auto focus on the k800i really makes no difference for me, only the flash does. It would be nice to see these mid range phones from to also have flash and autofocus just to have a perfect 3.2 MP camera, but this would obviously make them a lot more expensive then the current £150 price tag.
Video capture is a low 15 fps QVGA, which doesnt help me with wanting to take and upload keyboard perforance videos to youtube, but the phones microphone is actually very decent and it comes with a dictaphone in the applications menu. 3.2 MP camera with AF, flash, and 30 fps video capture would be a nice addition to future ranges of mid range phones when the prices are cheaper - I dont need to pay extra or bulk up my handset for any more mega pixels, just better quality would be nice. |

men are you shure you knoe how to take the picture wiht the auto focus?
you need to press, wait til the phone beeps and then press the button all the way.
is no like presin it one time and you photo come focused. the lens need to adjust .
i think it is a thread that help gettin the best of your CS or any AF cam

I'm sure K800 can do better than that!! On the other hand I saw camera samples from T700 on Gsmarena and I must say it's very good at taking pictures for a non AF camera

Of course I know how to use auto focus. I press the button halfway, wait for the noise, image adjustment and centre square to go green.
You are forgetting that I didnt use flash on the k800i, the phone has never been able to take good pictures WITHOUT flash. Once you turn the flash onto auto, you get much more better photos as I already mentioned. The auto focus on the k800i is insignificant with flash turned off.
Any blurriness in the pictures is due to unsteady hands, I think I already mentioned that I cant take clear pictures very well with or without AF.

K800i can take good pics and without flash  just need good and steady hand, and that is your problem.
btw. k800i flash pics sucks, i hate "water color" effect on flash pics.And look your 2 and 3 pic, you use auto mode, and ISO is 400, use document mode for that distance, because document mode use ISO100.

Perhaps some outdoor pictures would have given a better comparison. Not many camera phones do well with indoor shots because usually there just isn't enough natural light inside to make for a good picture.

Oh, I didnt know about using document mode. To be honest, I dont think most average people that dont know much about cameras would bother changing modes anyway, they usually just want to use their phone to take quick snaps without having to fiddle with changing settings. You need to realise that Im one of those people that fit the target audience for this phone - I just use my phone for taking pictures of stuff I buy, I have absolutely no need for a high end profesional camera. For simply switching the camera on and taking quick pictures of stuff, the T700 suits my camera needs perfectly. The cybershot phones on the other hand are jammed full of camera features that I never use. The photo comparisons were simply done by switching on the camera and taking a picture, for people like me that only use their camera in this way, the new mid range phones like T700 and G705 fit my requirements just fine - I get to pay less by missing out on an advanced camera which I wouldnt ever use properly. For people who want a good camera on their phone, you have the K and C range to suit these needs.

well I see the keyboard pics.The one with k800i is very smeary and the one with t700 is great.  .
a little advice.Before You press the cam button breath in and don't let the air out until the pic is taken.It worked for me |

I know why the k800i pictures are more blurry - the camera button is harder to press for me with the auto focus thing and it always shakes right when I press the button. The T700 button is simple and easy and I can click it without causing as much movement to the phone. My k800i pictures always blur, I would fail as a photographer lol.
P.S. Now that I am used to it, web browsing on the T700i is a lot better then on either the k800i or k850i - no joypad and a much better positioned D pad. The phone also has no faults or errors like the k850i did, it is just as robust and smooth as my k800i still is. I dont actually need a better phone then this one, but I'll still take my upgrade when it is due.
