i want this turned off .. is that possible?

it can't be turned off.. and be thankful for that... it makes your mobile last longer... it saves battery and prevents the display from getting burned...

The backlight turning off would save battery. Changing the image to a clock instead of the standard display wouldn't.

The clock is to stop your screen burning in the most used places, thats why it moves, it`s called a screen saver because it saves your screen. not battery as you have rightly pointed out. so it DOES make your screen last longer.

I agree with the OP though. The clock annoys me. It means to check if I have had any missed calls or SMSs I have to press a couple of keys. I'd rather just look at the screen.

Mine stops displaying the clock when i have a missed call or sms...
also when the charger is plugged in..

yeah! what about when the phone's charging? the screensaver can't prevent for the screen to be damaged, then BS probably...

The black pixels allow the phone to sav epower. Color screens require much more battery power even with the backlight off, so by turning all (or most) pixels black, it saves power.

Now, I wish at least it would show the missed calls / SMS counter next to the damned clock (I do hate it).

Well , I have a completely black background picture on my t68i.
How much power will that use ? Not much ,if what you said is correct.
