My C902 no longer displays the small G above the signal strength, Is this right ??

Maybe you are out of coverage. restarting the phone doesn not fix this?

No, tried that one.
I have the large "H" next to signal strength showing up, it's on O2 UK if that makes any difference.

G stands for GPRS data speeds.

H Stands for HSDPA data speeds.

As long as you have one or the other you've nothing to worry about, although you're better off with the 'H'.

mine's done that from the first seus update. it doesn't seem to
show the icon even though you are in reception for G or E. It does
display the icons when you're connected though !

You can force the "H" off .... in settings, advanced, mobile networks ...
set to GSM only (I think that's where it is !!)
