Newbie debranding a UK o2 C905 |

Hi,
I've decided to unbrand my C905 to try and fix the problems with my GPS. I have a few questions.
1. Is there a step by step guide on how to do this? The Davinci site seems to assume you know what you are doing.
2. Can I use the PC Suite to backup my phone before debranding, and then restore everything after?
3. Is the supplied USB cable that came with the phone ok to use?
4. What do I do for operator settings, and internet settings? These will be lost when debranding correct?

Yes its pretty simple , and you will get a step by step guide.
You just need the install the USBFlash drivers and then you are ready to start flashing.
You can use the PC Suite to backup your messages and phone contacts.
The USB Cable supplied with the phone is used to flash. Regarding the operator settings , you can request them from your service provider.

Hasn't improved the GPS at all though so back to the drawing board!

I'm really interested in this because I bought a C905 last week on Vodaphone as they are unlocked. I am T-Mobile and finding I cannot get Web browsing or GPS working either. I am sure it is because Vodaphone stuff is stopping it. I have Google Maps and Gmail working fine so it will connect to the internet.
I went to SE and forced a software update using my phone connected to puter, this happened but it left the VP defaults on it.
Therefore I wish to debrand my phone, don't like the VP stuff anyway.
Any help to debrand a Vodaphone C915 would be appreciated, thanks |

It really was quite simple. The best thing to do is to download the client software for davinci, buy a credit and then follow the instructions available here:

The hardest part is making sure you choose the correct firmware (R1BA038 for the UK).

It went perfect after loading the flash drivers.
I used RIBA038 to your recommendation. After I found my phone was still Vodaphone. Looking at the log I find:

EEEEK "prg1208-0447_VODAFONE_SI R1BA038" this says VP, so I have spent £8.97 making it the same as it was. Help please, how do I unbrand it ? ... Alan (aka toulouz) Do I have to pay again ?

Hey toulouz. I have a 'branded' O2 that is unlocked (I used Vodafone). It would be nice to return remove all the O2 bloatware, but I don't want to go through your pain only to find out nothing changes. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. |

Antgrey, if you follow what I did you should rebrand it Vodaphone.
If you want it totally unbranded we will have to wait for the answer from Chris. There are many packages for this phone and its a question of choosing the correct one. |

haha this gets worse. I went back to Davinci and I still had my credits so I went in again, and found that their were two choices at the start. First was to flash with a brand and the second was to flash th phone.
So I chose the second and it went on for 10 minutes. I was excited, this is it I thought.
Then I started phone and it was a completely new start, at last the Vodaphone stuff will be gone !!
It started up and it has been branded Planet 3 !! wtf is going on?
My credits have gone now so where do I go from here ?

I 've just rebranded my orange C905 using R1BA034. Appears to so far have removed all the orange branding and google maps etc is there...

Looking at the B1BA038 firmware for a C905 (not C905a, I think that's not the normal UK model), it says that there are 34 items in the firmware. Do you get a choice to choose one of them when you flash the phone? If so, "C905 R1BA038 CID52 CUSTOMIZED UNITED KINGDOM WESTERN-EUROPE - EN EU CA NL FR GL DE PT ES TR PL" looks like a likely candidate. Of course, I am a newb so have no clue 8-P |

yay I never saw the second choice menu so i flashed it to the one at the top of the list.
Davinci were just great, they credited back my points and helped me very quickly, answering my emails on the fly !!
All went well and my phone is brilliant now. Internet is fine. Only thing to try out now is the GPS
