I need to undelete an SMS from an old Sony Ericsson. I think it's on the cell phone memory, not the SIM card. Can you help me? |

@Tranced: He means to undelete, or to undo deletion of a message, in other words, he wants to recover a deleted message from his phone...
@Tentacled: Is it a smartphone or a non-smartphone?

Gone where? They haven't gone out in the trash.
When you delete a message the software tells the hardware that this particular memory location is available for use. The message go nowhere, but overwriting may erase all trace of it.
You can't recover it using your phone, you'd need a software app on your PC or smartphone to recover it using forensic techniques.

I'm sure that he used this word in the sense of 'inaccessible'. Whether physically deleted or just no longer accessible. It's gone, that's true.
Or you don't mean that your boy or girlfriend has disappeared, died or left the planet, when you say that he or she is gone, do you ?

That which is inaccessable can be made accessable with the right know-how.

@carkitter
First, the op was talking about lost messages in phone memory, while the links you've posted show solutions for lost messages in the sim card.
Second, even if the op would be talking about messages on the sim card, you don't think that he or anyone else having the same problem would invest 149 $ or 69 $ + required hardware just in order to restore a few SMS's, do you ?

You're quite right on both accounts, it depends how desperate for the info he is.
I just thought we should get out of the realms of possibility and get some actual evidence of recovery into the discussion. Those were simply the first two solutions to pop up on a Google search which is probably the best answer as it seems no-one here has experience in recovering lost messages.

I think that most of the users here are well aware of the evidence of recovery software, at least of those for HDD's and memory cards, and it's nice to see that people have also invented solutions for SIM cards, as it might be useful for those who, as you said, are really that desperate, although I still can't imagine, which kind of SMS that would be
