Query on Panels & Updates |

I have had my X1 for almost a week now and still cannot work out how to change the default Panel. My phone always starts up with the standard WM Today screen and I have to change it to my preferred Panel (the Sony Ericsson one) manually. Surely the default can be changed? I have read through all the various manuals and it is not clear if it can be done. They all talk about adding and removing panels but I have not found anything about changing the default.
I have a Vodafone X1 (it was free so how could I say no even though it is virtually identical to my HTC Touch Pro) and have not been able to update the SE Panel RSS links and weather forecast via GPRS even though its fine via wifi. Does anyone know how to change/check the settings? |

I have seen in the main discussion post that there is a problem with Vodafone branded X1's regarding the updates/RSS feeds but surely someone can clarify if it's possible to change the today screen permanently to one of the other Panels?? I suspect I'm being really thick here which is why none of you has bothered to reply!! |

I'm no expert but from what I can gather, panel no.1 (top left) is the default panel and will always be displayed when the phone is switched on. Unfortunately on the Vodafone X1 this panel is locked so it cannot be changed.
However, I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere that this panel can be 'unlocked' to allow it to be changed just like the other panels, although I think this would require some fiddling in the registry.
I'm sure someone else will explain this further.

I haven't seen a way yet to change the default panel, but the vodafone panel itself can be changed

Ahh that must be what I've seen. My apologies. Like I said, I'm no expert.

Maybe it's just me but don't you find it hard to believe that SE can trumpet this wonderful new concept, have a separate hardware button for it and then not come up with a way of allowing users to permanently use this new bright idea?! Wow, I think I need to sit down and digest this news..... |
