Hi Peeps,
Anyone out there know the answer to this:

I have a credit card, should be recieving my statement anytime now, I bought an item for £1000 but it never arrived, so I contacted the company and they said they were out of stock.

However they have taken payment from my card, so it looks like the transaction has been completed.

My statement date is today, the refund was supposed to go back onto my card about a week ago, and still hasn't.

As its a large amount, it has been transferred to another team to get refunded (complete crap), they basically forgot to do it!

So I have contacted my credit card company and they are saying that I need to make the payment as its on my statment and as soon as the company refunds me, it will simply be added ontop of my credit limit.

The question I have is, will I be able to transfer this extra £1000 to my bank? As its pointless having extra credit, and having £1000 tied up.

Spoke to the credit card company and they are saying that I will be able to transfer it, however the guy on the phone seemed a little unsure.

All help appriciated.

Thanks.

Check with your credit card company but as far as i know just pay the card bill except for this 1000. Tell the credit card company first. It is then the card companies problem to chase up the cash from the seller

If it's an AMEX, you can get back to sleep (it's ~3am in the UK as I write this). I had Amazon (of all online vendors!) pull the same trick on me once. Called AMEX and the representative asked me to exclude the disputed amount while paying the bill. It was all taken care of within 15 days and amount showed up as a charge back (credit) on my card.

However, I'm not too sure if you can transfer funds from the card to your bank account. That'd be similar to forking out a loan against your credit.

Spoke to the card company again, and they said they will contact me soon for more info.

Payments not due for a while, so will see what happens.

Its a Mastercard by the way.
