Another dead K850i? |

So, I bought a K850i off of ebay. I was told that it was 'software unlocked' but since I haven't had any experience with SE phones, I couldn't verify. Anyways, the phone worked and I was happy playing around with it.
I tried updating it using SEUS. I followed the instructions, but ran into a problem when I connected the phone the first time. As I held the C button and plugged it in, my computer started installing the SEMC Flash Device causing SEUS to not recognize that my phone was plugged in. So after holding down the C for like 15 minutes without anything happening, I let it go, unplugged the phone and repeated the steps. This time, SEUS told me that my phone was up to date and no new software existed for it.
So I clicked exit, but not it seems that my phone is stuck in the 'flash' mode...? Every time I plug i into the USB, the flash device is detected and I have no way of taking it out of flash mode (reversing the holding down of the C button). So now the phone doesn't turn on. When it's unplugged and I press the power button, the red light around the power button flashes 10 times and nothing else happens.
I've read close to 100 posts on at least 5 different forums (this one included) regarding similar problems but have yet to find a solution. Any guesses before I use davinci? (I have no problem with using their service except that my paypal is connected to my bank account (I don't have a credit card) and it takes me two weeks to transfer funds to my paypal and I really would rather not be without my new phone for another two weeks).
One other thing - when I plug the phone in to the USB, the phone keeps connecting and disconnecting without me changing anything (I keep hearing the hardware removed sounds from winxp, immediately followed by the hardware connected sound, then 15 seconds later it happens again (disconnected/connected)) |

Do it this way.
Cable out battery out, cable in.
Hold the C button , while holding the C button insert the battery to see if it detects.
Also try connecting the cable to another port and reinstalling the drivers.

plugging the cable in holds the lid for the battery 3/4 closed, making it physically impossible to insert the battery.
also, i've tried different ports and different computer too, to no avail. |

so, i just called sonyericsson.
first, the guy is all like 'if you didn't have a problem with the phone, you shouldn't have used the seus' which is a bunch of horse shit in my opinion.
anyways, he gets my info and tells me i need to send it in for them to fix. then i told him that i bought it off ebay. he put me on hold and came back and told me that the warranty is not transferable in canada and that i'm basically shit outta luck.
what i want to know is, had i not told him that i bought it off a person on ebay, would the whole process have gone through? or do they require some sort of receipt or something? oh, and i didn't give him the imei, so it's not like the phone's been tagged in their system as an 'ebay phone' or whatever.. if they even do such things. |
