Get a simple USB charger for the phone, connect to both phone and computer, turn off computer.
Phone battery from 100% to 0% in a matter of minutes, this I have found out by misstake of course... when I needed a full battery, and thought I had it ...

But remember that so fast discharging is not good for the battery. Try to turn everything on - IR, BT, light...

you'll shorten the battery's life by fully discharging it, so i wouldn't recommend you do it on purpose. why would you want to? these batteries don't suffer "memory effect" so there's really no need. |

every battery, no matter what kind, suffers a memory effect. also, how does discharging the battery shorten its life. that doesn't make any sense. when you USE the phone thats discharging it. |

Lithium polymer is a so called deep-cycle battery. Meaning It takes no harm from being fully discharged. The memory effect is virtually not existing(if at all) in lithium polymer battery.. same goes for lithium ion.
Nickel metal hydride batteries however does suffer slightly from memory effects nor is it damaged from being fully discharged. In fact. A metal hydride battery should be fully discharged every now and then. |

have a look at this thread- http://esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=5503&forum=15&start=0
the important things to note (repeated several times through the thread by various authorities) are that li-poly batteries do not suffer memory effect, and should not be fully discharged- ideally you should just keep the phone "topped up" as often as possible.
these batteries only last for a limited number of charging cycles- discharging simply wastes these (and therefore shortens the batteries life). |

Ok... so the bottom line is NOT to discharge my battery! lol. I don't know anything about the battery and the reason why I wanted to know how to discharge it is to prolong its life. If thats not nessary... even better |

surely if the batteries only last a limited number of charging cycles then topping up when the phone doesn't need it is just running the battery life down.
they don't make them like they used to |

Turn on IR, Bluetooth, GPRS, backlight and do repetitive voice recordings.
