Hi, I'm new to this forum.

I have a question regarding the T68i. My friend and I both have it and the weird thing is we also have an identical problem with it. Every now and then the phone just turns off. I don't know why and neither does my friend. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there a way to fix this??? I bought my phone from Hong Kong and my friend did also. However, we did buy it from different stores.

Also I remember reading somewhere about updating software for the phone...How do I go about doing that? Do I need to contact Ericsson?

Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

the phones probably need a firmware upgrade.. which can be done at a servicepoint....
you can try switching the batteries between the two phones, sometimes it's the battery causing the phone to shut off, but it might work in another phone..

The power button still works when the keylock is on, although you have to hold it down for longer than if the keylock is not on.

I found that when I had my phone in my pocket and I sat down and put my arms on my legs, I'd sometimes press the keys and the phone would eventually turn off.

This may not apply to you, but just so you know it's a possibility.

Cardo: I didn't realise you could do the "hold NO for ages and it turns off" thing. Just trying it now, it seems to turn the phone off straight away, without deregistering from the network or doing the normal turn off stuff. Then when I turn it back on, it does its "Please wait" thing that happens when you have taken the battery off.

Maybe SE should look into this, though it could be a hardware "feature" and not changeable with a firmware update.

I'm starting to get confused...Is there actually a difference between firmware and software??? Or are they the exact same thing?

Software is any sort of program. Firmware is usually used to refer to software that is stored in ROM (or Flash as is common these days with devices like phones).

Holding NO button for 10sec is the only way to reset t65 when it hangs. It has a built-in battery so it would be difficult to take it out;-) I don't know what for is it implemented in t68... Peter
