On my K800 I could add shortcuts to the homescreen. But on my C905 I can't find a way to do it. I can change from the Orange to the Sony Ericsson homescreen, but that is actually worse and I still can't modify it.

Anyone found a solution to this?

Many thanks!

You will have to debrand.

Yes that's fixed it. Debranded with DaVinci, upgraded to R1BA038.

The Orange branding is horrible - can't edit the homescreen, no Wayfinder etc etc. Needed debranding!

Hi pootle.

I think that I may need to do the same. I got an Orange c905 yesterday and although I dont mind the branding (probably because I don't know what the unbranded software looks like! is it really better?), I was really annoyed that Navigator and Google maps aren't available. I've just got orange maps that says it is coming soon!

I called the Orange helpdesk and they are going to get back to me about the lack of these options, they have sent me orange update messages but these have not helped. I guess they'll get back to me and tell me that is not available under orange!

I have a couple of questions...

Is the rebranding a simple procedure?
How long does it take?
Will I loose and settings that came with the phone e.g. internet settings, SMS setting etc?
Did you back up anything on your phone and if so what did you use?
Will it remove the orange specific options, e.g. Orange World, Orange plus, Orange maps?

Cheers

Firstly its debranding , rebranding is opposite of debranding
It will take 7-10 minutes. You will lose the settings , but then can be configured back anytime. Backup of Phonebook is needed.
It will remove all Orange Logos and load SE defaults. The phone will be faster without the annoying Operator Logos.

Yes. Google Maps and Wayfinder are there, and you can customise everything.

I went out for a walk this lunchtime and used Google Maps to find my location. The phone connected using HSDPA and instantly downloaded a satellite image of my exact position. Absolutely brilliant.

I've just got orange maps that says it is coming soon!

Don't hold your breath.

They are useless.

Yes, provided you have the DCU-60 cable. That's the USB cable with all 12 pins, not the one with 4 pins that comes with the phone.

How long does it take?

About 15 mins total, while it downloads the file you need, then flashes.

Will I loose and settings that came with the phone e.g. internet settings, SMS setting etc?

Internet settings yes, but you can get the Orange website to automagically send you an SMS to restore them. SMS settings are unaffected.

Did you back up anything on your phone and if so what did you use?

No, I hadn't installed anything.

The best application for backing-up/restoring SE phones is MyPhoneExplorer. The latest beta works brilliantly with C905: http://www.fjsoft.at/files/MyPhoneExplorer_DebugUpdate.exe

This app is so good it's the main reason I stay with SE phones!

Will it remove the orange specific options, e.g. Orange World, Orange plus, Orange maps?

No, yes, yes.

You're in Bristol too? There's a little shop at the top of Park St will probably do it all for you.

I think I bought the cable online.

Hi all, I recently debranded my C905 from Orange to the SE Generic Firmware using Davinci and was thankful to get rid of all the orange crap off it!

After an hour or so I noticed my phone now read inactive sim. I have now rebranded my phone back to the Orange firmware and it is fine again, no inactive sim messages!

Any ideas??
