C905 - GPS PROBLEMS |

Thought I would start a new topic for people like me who are experiencing problems with the GPS based functions on their new C905's.
My problem is I cant get the phone to connect to any satellites for more than a minute and then it disconnects after about another minute or two. Important to note here I do not live in a built up area.
I have tried everything to get this working and always get the same results. My reckoning now is that maybe I have a faulty handset. Sony wouldn't put anything that crap on any of their handsets. Surely it would have to work at least a bit. When I do get the phone to connect to GPS the accuracy is very poor and often puts me streets away.
Any suggestions welcome.

I had the same problem with my c702 on early firmwares, it would take forever to connect & sometimes the phone would reboot when using gps, all gps problems were solved by updating the firmware it appears the c905 has these firmware bugs aswell.

Cool I will try updating the firmware and get back to you. Fingers crossed!
When the GPS on these phones works is it any good? I don't expect it to be Tomtom standards but my friends iphones at least put them in the right street! |

On my c702 its accurate to a few meters and works fine almost as good as a tomtom.

The initial GPS signal fix will always take significantly longer than any other signal fix. Make sure you're outdoors with no barriers that could affect the signal around you or above you. If possible, also enable a-GPS.

Mizzle is spot on. I had major headaches like yourself trying to get the initial fix, but once it does, it's very quick.
A-GPS is very useful as well in getting a quick connection, make sure it's on |

I have been using a few SE phone with aGPS. W760, C702..... here's what I notice.
If you activate navigation or google map....the satellite connection just seem way slower. Most of the time, I will make sure I am outdoor...and like using GPS, ....if I am in the car, place the phone in front of the wind screen for a while WITH the Status Info activated. This application can be minimized....just keep it running until you get a connection. Then you can activate other application. I notice this is the fastest way to get aGPS up and running. |

Do everthing he says besides enabling agps. Agps is the reason why your phone is losing its lock with the satellites.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have tried turning off aGPS several times. This problems seems to be fairly common. See the guys over at this forum are experiencing the same problem.

I will give it a few more days and then call the carphonewarehouse. It's only a slight problem but everything should work on the phone. |

Has anyone got their c905 to work as a bluetooth GPS module? With GPSgate in an ideal world? would love instructions to do so it seems as though it is possible. |

My GPS worked perfectly last night, was outside taking photos and its geo-tagged them incredibly accurately, also tried to use Amaze GPS app which worked like a dream too.

Whenever Im in wayfinder Navigator and i try to find my position to plan a route it says : GPS reciever does not recieve signals. Please make sure nothing is blocking the GPS Signal (e.g. a roof, buildings, etc) and try again.
It says this even when im outside...
Does someone know how to fix this problem??? |

Keep the "status info" menu open until you are connected. After that press "minimise" and select navigation and do whatever you want
