I just got a C905, love the icons in the 'Dusk Settings' theme but don't like the background.

I downloaded SE's themes creator thinking I could change it to a plain black background, but when I try to load it i get an error saying 'You are trying to load a version 4.7 theme' It says my phone only supports version 4.6 themes, then it converts it and removes the icons. And I can't change my phone since they don't have a template for the C905 on there yet.

So does anyone know a way I can edit the theme so the background is just plain black, but the icons stay, I don't want the icons to revert to the normal SE ones.

Thanks.

Open the THEME CREATOR, select the ph. other than C905, e.g. K810i etc. Then open your desired theme, change it's background (u must hv a plain wallpaper in PC).
Now,save it!
Again, repeat same method & select C905,open that theme & save it! reply me

...not exactly. Just select W980 or W760 from the phone list in theme creator and open your theme.

Thank, tried both, both give me this error message. I can change the wallpeper but the background screen on the menu stays the same, even if I set it to a plain black wallpaper.

Ok. I've expected this. Follow these steps IF YOU WANT TO EDIT THE THEME and use it again:
1. Open the .thm file with WinRar or IZArc.
2. Extract the file Theme.xml.
3. Open the theme and make what you want.
4. Close the Theme Creator and open the theme with WinRar or IZArc again.
5. Open the file Theme.xml with Notepad without to extract it and delete all of the lines in the end, which start with "6. In the same place paste the lines started with "And you are ready to use the theme on your or other mobile. If you have problems write here.

Thanks, for the reply. Everything is fine up until the last part, I extract the theme.xml, use theme creator to change the backgrounds, then open the theme with winrar again, thats where the problem it.

I can't open the theme.xml in anything but IE,, and I can't edit it there. If I extract it and edit it with notepad I can't add it back to the rar file, I get an error message saying 'winrar can add files only to rar or zip files'.

Ok. So download IZArc, beause I am using it without and problems to do this operation. But the way to do this is a little but different. Follow this:
Do everything from 1. to 4.
5. Extract the file Theme.xml after editing the theme with Theme creator. Open the new Theme.xml and delete all of the lines in the end, which start with "6. Now delete the file Theme.xml in the .thm file and replace it with the second extracted file.
And you are ready.

THe problem is that the model C905 is not yet supported in the Themes Creator software, but it should be possible to use a theme for a similar phone, like C902 for example. However, if the aime is only to change the wallpaper, it is not necessary to create an entire new theme. You can use any picture in the image gallery in your phone as wallpaper by selecting the picture, perss More, Use as, Wallpaper

Bla bla bla! The problem is that the Theme creator can't open the media manager skin!

Try "tugzip" - .THM files are really TAR archives with a file type of thm
BTW if the main menu is one of the "Flash" ones you'll need adobe to
change the file - the standard icons are on a png, jpg, gif background
whereas the flash animated menus are a SWF file.

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Just checked the xml file and the menu is a flash file ...

so unless you have a way of modding swf files you'll not be able to
change the main menu background.

Tried using the other software, was able to follow all the steps, put the theme on my phone and the picture behind the icons is still the same lol. That's all I really want to change, the standard Sony icons are boring so I'd like the ones from the theme, but I hate the background. lol, it was so much easier when I had a k800i, just flash the menu icons.

I don't just want to change the wallpeper, I want to change the picture that sits behind the main menu icons, but keep the icons from the theme, as they're different to the standard sony ones.
