Even if they had more choices, most !diots would still but Nokia because:
a) they don't know that there are other manufacturers (I've come across people like this a lot; they see my T68i and ask "What model Nokia is that?")
b) their friends all have Nokias
c) they're too lazy to learn a new UI
d) They don't know that you can SMS with non-nokia phones |

Well motorola's bet against 7650 and SE P800 is the A820.it has built camera and a GPS(global positioning satellite).It is somewhat 3G ready/UMTS.Here in the philippines,smart communication would b offering it this year.

That's not the reason why people choose nokia over those phones... It's because of their marketing prowess... Other cellphone companies don't invest too much on advertising unlike nokia... |

i think the best marketing tool is the consumer?? you could put out flyers and stuff, but if the stubborn public/consumers are just joining the bandwagon we really couldnt stop the power of the grapevine. since a big percentage of the people here are using nokia, aspiring celphone owners would be getting the low-down from a nokia user. right?? |

For the period between say 1997 to mid 2001 (when the t68i came out) Nokia was the only phone worth buying, that popularity earned them their current market share, & they DID earn it.
I bought a t68 in 2001 because i was unimpressed with nokias failure to keep up with technology, i took a risk buying an Ericson because previous to that phone they were shit, but the risk paid off, & i`d love a p800 but i`m worried they are full of bugs/rubbish. |

Nokia has next to no advertising in Australia. It is because everyone has Nokias.
They think because their friend has one, they should get one. They say that Ericsson is shit, even knowing that Sony-Ericsson has a much more advanced but user friendly software. Unlike Nokias crap menus and stuff.

Well aside frm nokias marketing prowess,it is a matter of corporate politics.Here in our country,network equipment,mms servers and the like are mostly nokia and some by ericsson.only nokia celfones benefit the value added services.Even if you have the latest \"others\" models,u cant fully enjoy them.So the consumer is left with just Nokia-frm the lowly vendor to the corporate user.Nokia is a sore!

Nokia has done so well because of previous phones that it had. Some of them might have been buggy but people will put up with that he they can have something new on their phone before their friend does. First phone i had was the nokia 8110 when that very first came out. Some of you wont have even heard of that. It was 1 of the first phones to support sms. When i got it sms was not even supported by the networks! It had an active slide, was small for the time. You could even put your own ring tone on it.

Screen is too small.
It would look good w/o the flip, but that's not an option.
And they have this great feature
