Removing the C902 Camera's Sliding Cover |

I need to remove it, but according to a disassembly video, I need to pull everything out of the phone before it's even possible. This is something I'd rather not do!
I just want it off so I can clean out the dust from the video call camera part cause I want to make some video calls without the picture being blurry.
So has anybody removed it
a) without ruining it and
b) without pulling everything out of their phone first?
Here's a link for those that can't see the image.
^^^These FCC photos look like they managed, but I tried to do that and it felt like the plastic would break before it came off!
I need advice. Anybody got any?

Nah either way it seems way too tight.

The only risk with forcing it off is that if it won't go back on ok.
I removed the slider (all of it i even unclipped everything on the underneath) on my k800 and it's never been the same since to try and tighten up the slide
Your risk

That's nice, but can you take the phone apart at the same time?
I don't own a C902, but that pic does make the slide look very scary to remove. I've taken so many other phones to bits, I know what a pain it can be.

So my new c902 housing came in, I pryed off the top by slowly prying the two sides, you absolutely do not need to remove anything else to get that camera cover off. It is held by two plastic sliding elements, the trick is to get the cover back onto them when you reattach it, it was actually surprisingly easy. Sorry that I didn't take any photos, but I was in a hurry, with a new battery cover and new lens cover the phone looks as good as new and is ready for ebay! |

Good work mate. I don't think I'm going to attempt mine cause I'm scared I'll snap it. Even just pulling them a tiny bit seems like the sides will snap...
Anyway, thanks for your responses!

hällå Oli..................just a tip. forgett about if its some dots under the secondary camera lens, it dosent destroy the videocall quality that much IF you use it.
the main thing is that the sweat 5 m.p camera is clean & nice
and if you still want to clean your videocall camera, let your workshop do it for you....it goes under your 2years warranty, (like usuall)

Thanks for the tip Plankgatan.
Yeah, I figure that if the video call quality isn't very good, I can always just slide the cover up and video call like that anyway.
Unfortunately for me, there are no SE service centres in New Zealand though.

are you sure? it would be strange for SE to sell products in a country where they have no support
have you tried the NZ service centre locator?
