hi,
its that time of the year to upgrade!
i am a sony ericsson user and cant decide over the C905 or Xperia?
i dont care about office applications and internet browsing from my phone....so taking those two out of the equation which phone is better suited for me?
is the c905 just a big old cybershot camera? oh, and which colour u prefer as well! hah
many thanks
p.s. previous phones included sony w580, s500, w800, and Nokia 73...if that gives u some indication of the type of user i am |

Well, does camera quality matter to you? The C905 is an excellent camera phone, and the WiFi and GPS are decent too. Other than that though, it is a feature phone. So if camera doesn't matter to you, then there's no point paying for such an expensive one.
You say you don't care about office apps. The X1 minus the office apps has a better than average camera and a big screen. But apparently the Windows Interface suits people more if they're using it for applictaions and stuff.
I'd say if office applications and camera both don't matter, then maybe you should be looking at something else?

Why don't you define what it is you WANT in a phone instead of what you DON'T WANT. |

From your previous phones, n73 was the best. Now, xperia's cam is on par with n73 but video recording is VGA @30fps.
Xperia's screen resolution is nearly 5 times that of n73 and c905.
Music wise, i say all three are more or less the same.
Now, the big advantages of c905 are 8mp excellent cam, xenon flash and acceleromoter over xperia.
On the other hand, xperia has 3" touch screen, full keyboard, very long battery, support for loads of 3rd party multimedia and other apps, superb multi tasking, micro sd slot, mini usb, metal body etc. Other than that, c905 comes for around 500$ whereas xperia is for around 800$. Unless you are a power user who wants much more from your mobile phone, c905 is better but if you want a phone which can do everything, xperia is the way to go. |

i would like a decent camera that takes good video and pics preferably with flash/some sort of light. i am an active person n the GPS picture system appeals, but has it got navigation also in the C905?
design wise i prefer the look of the c905, but the xperia seems to be something for the future all rolled into one, and a Metal bodied phone would be nice. i doubt ill be happy with using the interface of xperia though, i like nice n simple menu's and a few nice features will keep me happy. i heard theres already work on the Xperia 2, and dont want my xperia 1 to be bugged or short changed.
im comparing the two phones because my o2 upgrade will allow me to get pretty much either one of the one. i wanted an n96,but they dont do it yet. however, how would a n96 compare with either xperia or c905? |

The N96's plastic doesn't do its price justice. |

C905 is a brilliant camera phone, wereas X1 is a better internet phone with larger screen and full keypad, so those are the features to choose between. I use my phone for the internet and hardly ever use the camera, so X1 would get my vote, but they both too expensive for me. My next phones will be downgrades from my K850i because 3.2 Mpix camera is good enough for me. |

So, basically you want a cam of c905, built quality of xperia and multimedia power of n96. Why not go for samsung innov8. Best cam, best video, gr8 OS, good built quality, etc. If you can afford xperia, you'll have no problem getting an innov8 either. |

i hate using the samsungs/iphones/etc and anything not sony or nokia...im abit of an old dog you see!
just read the gsmarena review of c905, they like it. the accelerometer, gps, and camera look interesting. even though im not a web browser, using facebook with the wifi looks pretty easy on the c905.
ive read a few bad reviews of the n96,and seems as though its not much an improvement from the n95 i already have.
so...loads of weight for the c905, probly best for an average user like me....but does anybody know the keypads durability? the last sony slider i had was a w580 and s500 and the bloody buttons all cracked!
many thanks |

The N96 is not an improvement, it even has a slower processor than N95 8GB. N85 is more like it. |
