Hi,

I'm going to change my N95 8GB soon. I'd like to have touch screen with higher resolution and faster OS. I thought about X1 but its has WM6.1 which is not finger friendly enough for me. Now I'm waiting for the announcement of new touch NSeries flagship, which - I hope - will be presented in November (http://symbianworld.org/990-its-official-iphone-killer-by-nokia-in-the-works/).

There is only one thing that worries me a little bit. As I understood well from Symbian Show, Symbian Foundation is going to release its first Symbian OS in 1H2009 (first phones on market 2H2009). If I'm not wrong, it will be sth totally different than S60 5th Edition used in Nokia 5800 (Tube). The new NSeries touch flagship will have also S60 5th Edition OS. I'm affraid that this OS can be only sth to fill up a hole between S60 3rd Edition and new S60 OS from Symbian Foundation. If it's true, it won't be used long - only one year?

What's Your opinion?

i have never enjoyed Symbian, (have own 2 symbian phones), so i understand if you want to change , (or maybe you just want a faster Symbian phone ?)

if you want a fast phone, go for c902, c702, (probably also c905), w910, etc. this phones have very few bugs and runs smothly and fast.

good luck !

That's true - I'd like to have fast OS. OS that works without lags - like Android. But I've quite big screen - 2.8' in N95 8GB and like it a lot. Phone like X1, but with fast, finger friendly OS would be perfect. Unfortunately there is no such a phone right now. But this discussion is a little bit of toppic that I wanted to start here

Look at Android. It is possible to create OS for smartphones without lags.

Funny enough i was just at HowardForums and read a great G1 Review where the user complained about battery life and that the phone tends to freeze when doing quite a bit on it.
http://www.howardforums.com/s[....]ad.php?p=11847034#post11847034 but it is an interesting platform, ive been reading quite a bit of user reviews of it.

Ok, but we agree to such a software. If we do, developers don't have motivation to optimize OS code. Smartphones, especially high-end smartphones should work perfectly.

@ plank. . I certainly wouldn't change my my n82, or n95 8gig for a c902 or c905..neither are laggy, and work perfectly. Imo, both the c902 and 905 are fugly.

N82 isn't exactly beautiful, but it looks a whole lot better in real life. C902 looks way to conservative with it's itsy weentsy teeny screen. C905 is decent, but is short and fat.
