Taken from GSMArena today:
'The Samsung i7110 is the next Symbian smartphone with a 5 megapixel camera and enhanced multimedia capabilities - at least as far as rumors go.
This is not the first time the Samsung i7110 leaks - we've reported it back in August. This time a new image of the device leaked and it seems some redesigning has taken place. Plus we now know more about its high-end specs.
Powered by the latest Symbian S60 UI with FP2, the Samsung i7110 sports quad-band GSM, 3G with HSDPA, optical joystick navigation, a 2.6-inch 16M color display, accelerometer for auto screen rotation, a 5 megapixel video camera with dual LED flash, VGA@30fps video recording, slow motion and high-speed QVGA recording, Wi-Fi with DLNA, DivX and XviD video support, GPS receiver with A-GPS, FM radio and FM transmitter.
We are eagerly waiting for the official announcement of the Samsung i7110, which seems to be this month.'

Why does nokia, SE and Samsung persistent in implementing the same design philosophy with their new products? it is getting boring already Nokia with their N81 looks, SE with mixing all their phone designs and now Samsung trying to reuse the Soul design.

The products aimed at the masses have to have a generic design otherwise they would fall into a more specific category and thus wont mass sell. Plus we all know that the most samsung can do with a phone is to make it slide or not slide.

Samsung announces the newest smartphone based on S60 and Symbian OS at the Symbian Smartphone Show
Samsung I7110 underlines its strong portfolio on S60 and Symbian OS
London, UK, October 20, 2008 – Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd today announced the I7110, the latest Samsung smartphone based on S60 and Symbian OS™. Samsung I7110 will be showcased for the first time at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London on Oct. 21st - 22nd. Samsung I7110, a slim and sleek bar type smartphone with only 12.9 mm thickness, comes fully-packed with high performance functionality.
Based on Symbian OS v9.3, the I7110 is optimized for convergence with performance and feature enhancements, bringing the highest level of power efficiency and platform security to a mobile phone. Also based on S60 3rd Edition, Feature Pack 2, users can choose from thousands of applications from the S60 applications library and have access to their favorites by using dedicated hot keys.
The I7110 offers cutting-edge mobile phone features, including a 2.6” AMOLED (Active Matrix Organic Light Emitting Diode) screen, to deliver outstanding experiences in navigation, multimedia, and connectivity.
The I7110 boasts geo-tagging and navigation capabilities in pedestrian and driving modes. The AMOLED screen makes it a perfect pedestrian navigator as it provides sharp images even under intense sunlight. Currently, the pedestrian navigator is available in 10 cities in Western Europeincluding Amsterdam, Barcelona, Berlin, Helsinki, London, Madrid, Milan, Munich, Paris, and Rome. In addition, the FM transmitter enables drivers to receive the voice navigation guide via car speakers.
Samsung I7110 is a great multimedia companion. Users will be able to enjoy high resolution photos with its 5 megapixel camera featuring auto focus and LED flash. It also comes with the latest digital camera features including ‘smile shot’ and ‘blink shot’ functions. The I7110 offers advanced video recording and play features. It supports multi-codec formats including DivX, thereby saving users from the issues associated with converting video files. It also features 50MB of internal memory and a SDHC-supported micro SD slot, allowing users to store various digital contents up to 16GB. The smartphone’s 1,200 mAh battery can facilitate up to 11 hours of talk time and extended multimedia experience.
To offer seamless connectivity for multimedia experience, the I7110 comes equipped with HSDPA and Wi-Fi connectivity. The phone also offers an 8-way optical mouse to maximize the easiness of mobile browsing.
Geesung Choi, President of Samsung’s Telecommunications Network Business, said: “The introduction of I7110, Samsung’s new Symbian OS-based smartphone, is a testament of our strategic focus on the open OS phone portfolio. With a strong partnership with Symbian and the increased momentum in the smartphone market, Samsung will continue to offer a wide selection of mobile phones meeting the needs and lifestyles of today’s consumers.”
The Samsung I7110 will be available in Russia from November 2008 and will soon be introduced in other markets.

It looks like a slider without actually being a slider. Shows how badly Samsung have tied themselves to a single form-factor.

The form factor makes me think that Samsung is aiming to kill the N82. Same OS, same features but no Xenon flash! I'd rather chose the N82 as I lost the taste for flat keypads (keyboards) after spending several years with a Sinclair ZX-81!
Edit: 5 MP camera!

oh, I think things have come along a bit in the last 27 years or so
if you have tried the likes of the V3, or the shine etc, they work 1000 times better than the ZX-81!
not that I like any part of the styling of this phone though, and I think that if I was an S60 phone, I'd probably stick with Nokia

I'm not a fan of the latest Samsung candybars. They all look like open sliders, and I just hate it! This one isn't so bad, but's not good that's for sure (in my mind anyway ).
The specs are good, but I'd just keep wanting to slide it up
