Looks promising indeed. Props to Samsung for the effort...

Seems boring.... The overview dosent even seem slightly persuavie to have the bang and wow of a top seller, most likely just like something samsung is throwing out there to compete with iphone.

What is it and Korean phone companies giving their phones such awful names? Renoir, Viewty, Tocco, Omnia.....Bresson? I understand the roots of the name but I hope they change it! Sounds like a fish! Might as well be the Samsung Trout its so boring
At least Innov8 is catchy and has a youth feel.
It does sound very interesting though, I look forward to more details. No doubt they will come quickly. (You've got to love how Samsung announce phones out of the blue and release them the following month . I know a company that could benefit from that technique )

Samsung is pushing Nokia really hard. I have a feeling that come Q3 next year Samsung is going to start chewing at Nokia's market share.

Yep, samsung have really started to ramp up the competition. I was surprised with the i780 I got a few months ago - it's the best WM device I've seen for the price bracket it's in.

max: You can say that again! I have the i780 too, and its excellent.
Beyond that, Samsung is really pushing, and they're playing Nokia's game. Looks good, and I hope they sustain the effort.
Oh, they do need to up their game in the area of battery life though. While not as terrible as it used to be, Samsung's power department is not nearly as good as Nokia's.

Can samsung 'actually' beat nokia, using nokia's own interface (S60) ? They might sell more units, but in the end, they bought nokia's technology. |

No, Nokia have too large marketshare to be beaten by samsung at their own game.
The only way samsung can beat Nokia is to actually have better cheaper phones with a clear marketing edge over Nokia - regardless of what OS they use.
If they do this, for long enough, they could theoretically beat Nokia and become number one in marketshare. Even if it were to happen it would take several years imho.
The same applies to SE. No phone OEM is anywhere near beating Nokia in marketshare. Nokia is to the mobile phone industry what Microsoft is to the computer industry. Apple might make a better OS, but the fact is Windows is now a mature OS, has broad application support and a huge installed base compared to Apple. Nothing is going to change overnight.

Nokia has still the greatest offering on all departments, not to mention that they flooded the market with phones that satisfy the price-features ratio. nokia have lots of all-in-one phones unlike samsung (which imo were only three: the i900, innov8 and G810)

At the top-end, Nokia have zilch at the moment, just rehashed N95 derivatives.
In global terms, it's the Nokia logo on giveaway handsets in places like the US and India that gives them such a big market share.

all in one, but sans touchscreen
In the current world of iphone-esque clones a touchscreen is de rigueur for an all-in-one
