when you enter the forum without first login in and then try to post a reply, by default the Show signature box is unchecked. now, when you enter the forum and login in, it will have the Show signature checked by default. give it a try.

Why are so many people allowed signatures that support Robert Mugabe? I bet if I had a Nazi signature it would be deleted pretty quickly.

my turn !

I think we cannot use the trusted trader 'grading' logo in our signatures.

Why?

I know it can be added to the end of a post, but why not in a signature?

because images are not allowed in signatures

I think MikLSP is, or was, in discussion with laffen to somehow show these in the profile but I have no idea of where that is at

@marty mcfly, I've PM'd you for more details

My signature doesn't appear unless I edit, but mine has an image in it (though the image is a link to an image stored on my own web server)

I didn't realise images weren't allowed.

Staff on here are quite tolerant of sigs that you or i might find offensive Marty, Esato has IMO, the widest ranging tolerance of beliefs and viewpoints on all the tech forums i go on. i'm much more draconian, i wont even tolerate iphone users

the reason for that is that once the post is submitted the first time, the signature is captured and forms part of the text of the post.

therefore when you edit and submit the post again, the script no longer treats it as a signature and hey presto, you get your image. Unfortunately you also get the "this post was last edit by...." message too.

Should I edit my signature? I don't mind if I don't get the image unless I edit, but would you prefer I disable the image altogether?

(as you probably notice I don't go around editing all my posts!)
