Hi to all of you,

I just bought myself a P800 three days ago for HK$5900(USD$756) with no contract. It's a very nice phone. I have been using the Nokia 7650 and the Panasonic GD88 for the past month. They are both great especially the GD88 but Nokia sucks.(7650=waste of money)

The one thing I don't understand is why can't I view the pictures from my P800 when it's taken by a Sony digital camera?(DSC-10) I read it in the P800 menu that I would have to first transfer the picture to a PC then from the PC I would transfer it to a memory stick adapter. Kind of stupid.(I think)

Anyone have any ideas where I could download some videos for me to watch on my P800?(eg. the bird on the wire from Pixiar)

My P800 is an improted model. I have called the SonyEricsson HK office and they had told me it should be available by the end of January. The price from HK$5500-HK$6000 but it might not be the official price. (but they told me in December that they will be available for pre-order before Christmas but so far they have not called me yet. so.......)

My P800 is a english version. But I thought you can download any languages you want to your P800? So, if that works then you could download the chinese version later.

The phone is worthy every penny of it.

You can still use your memory stick but I think you will have to save it to a file first in your pc. Then from the file you transfer it back to your memory stick duo adapter.(that is to my understanding from reading the mannual) You take the memory stick duo and stick it back to your P800. Finally, now you are able to view the pictures from your phone.

so why can't u just take a picture usingthe memory stick duo in the adapter in the dscu-10 and then stick it right into the phone without the adapter and then email it off??

It saves it as a file that the p800 can read so what is the point of the computer transfer?

I did use the memory stick duo adapter for my u-10. After I took the pictures, I took the memory stick duo out and placed the memory stick duo 16mb back into the P800. Then I checked the phone but no records of the pictures. (if you have a chance to check the manual page 27 under "Compatibility")

As stated in the manual, it is due to the different file structure requirement for the 2 device.

However, the good news is, you will be able to use filemanager (http://my-symbian.com/uiq/download/index.php) to move the file to the correct directory. I am sure there will be some automated utility to do that for you at a single tap.

Hi Float,

Does that mean I have to download that program in order to view the pictures?

Hi there...

Ok, the P800 will be the first Sony device I've bought using their memory technology (I'm glad my MZ-R55 minidisk doesn't use a Sony version of minidisk)... so can I just something straight here...

Sony has 2 versions of portable solid state memory...

1) memory stick
2) memory stick duo

The Memory stick is compatible in all Sony devices, i.e. you can take a photo using a digital camera, then put that in the Clie and see the photos, then put it into a Sony phone (if there is one), and email the photos, then put it into a sony digital video camera, take film, then put it into a Vaio and download the clips?

Ok... now using the memory stick duo adaptor, can I do all of the above with a memory stick duo card?

And lastly, how does all of the above work with the P800?

It seems to me that Sony are tying to invent a new media format, and launch it with a new phone... and just HOPING that the 2 will take off...

I know one thing though - Memory Stick Duo prices are going to be soo high... at least for the first year!! I rekon Sony should give all P800 users a heavy discount on Duo media.... seeing as we're the ones that are guinipigging the new technology

@jf1972

Yes, the current solution is to launch filemanager to manually move all the pictures to the correct directories. (d:\Media files\image\unfiled)

Can your P800 display chinese SMS?

Mine can't even read it. I wish to have chinese languange display as soon as possible but remains the english UI, better still, chinese handwriting and english jot seamless switching

Hi float,

Mine can't read Chinese. It's an import model with English(UK)installed already. I am still trying to work on the pictures but I got the video working as I had downloaded some mpeg4. This phone is amazing!!

Anybody knows if the price would come down like my 7650 when i bought it ard 700$ few months later it came down to as low as 390$ now everybody got one....it just to unfair to the people who shells out much money to know that few months later it'll come down to an almost 50% off.HE hE just my two cents.
Also any body knows if there would be a new phone to be released soon that much better than the p800...touchscreen wise and size tnx and peace

I saw in SE website that the chinese version of P800 is P802. I don't know if it's exclusive for chinese language though.

Nokia depreciates very fast so it's better to wait for prices to drop when buying Nokia phones.

Motorola has a new phone that can rival P800. It was already posted in the other threads.
