@masseur. Thanks for the warning but I am keen on this phone as I don't want 18 month contract with O". But has anyone any hands-on feedback.
Reviews appear to point to the best Windows Mobile I-Phone beater yet. Depending on yoiur view perhaps better than I-Phone period? And netter than Xperia?
Having never had windows mobile before (currently UIQ3) would welcome any comments before I dive in for the Touch HD - it does look good as does the spec - but does it have that ease (and joy?) of use of the I-Phone?
PS Apolgies if this looks familiar - originally posted in the wrong HTC thread |

Hardware-wise this looks like the holy grail of phones. The problem is the interface... a stylus? Even blackberry is moving away from this with the storm. The fact that winmo is kinda “user challenging“ doesn“t help very much either. Why is it so hard to make a multi-touch phone? They can throw tons of hardware goodies inside but can figure out how to make it? And NO, this is not a small feature. After browsing pdf, office and palm files using multi-touch the rest just feels like the rest. Not to mention the fact that a touchphone without multitouch is no good for gaming... Give me an iphone killer! |

Hi!
I find the phone very good and don't need to use the stylus at all.
I find the touch screen responsive, and the phone meets my needs very well.
My only wish is that, rather than a Chinese/Japanese language add-on, from CE-Star or by adding Asukal's cab and an input cab, that then requires registry edits, that there was an iPhone style language input.
Camera is a bit to slow to focus, and gps was perhaps 50 feet behind the actual place when using Tom Tom or Garmin
I do not have paint issues with my Touch HD.
Maybe the reset button could have been positioned on the outside rather than under the battery cover, but at least it stops people jamming their styli into the usb port when trying to reset

lve been SE since the P800,i saw th X1 had gone windows & heard it was made by HTC so not being bothered about a physical keyboard & wanting a minimum of hardware buttons for long term reliabillity & seing the ratio of screen size to body i bought the htc touch hd last week simply because of the screen size I am sold on it it feels smaller than my old p990 in my pocket, the screen is amazing I have no issues or complaints the virtuel qwerty gives u up down left right scrolling if needed(Maybe they could have let u program th volume side rocker for this but think im just used to my old SE & keep forgetting)Anyway its fast, good battery life for a new unconditioned battery, sound quality is probably worst thing I can think off, but that's not an issue for me, bassically I rate this phone, I waited and waited for SE to bring out a phone that was thin (most of the body is 10mm) with the hugest screen thats possible & they didn't so I had to go elsewhere in the end. I bought it on an orange contract as they have not fiddled with anything at all apart from 1 small orange logo on th rear battery cover, software is non orange, i paid £129.99 on a twelve month dolphin 35 contract which is £33 a mnth it can be knocked to £28 a mnth after 6mnths i also talked them into 6mnths free data (250mb per mnth) Not massive but its free that makes the phone £495.99 in total with mins, texts & data making it more attractive than a sim free one. hope this was of some use.

The single most important thing to do if u get one of these is, put th screen protector on that comes in th box before u use it.that huge flush screen needs protecting. |
