Well, I've opened this topic to discuss about videos on our G900 (and other UIQ phones). What is the best format, encoder, and setting.. Let's find out where's the limit (alone there is too much problem with it ).
So i converted the movie 1408:
1. divx 600kbps video/128 audi @ mp3 44khz with divix converter
2. divix 700kbps V/128 A mp3 44lhz with smart movie converter
3. xvid 768kpbs V/128 A mp3 44khz smart movie
4. used M3's UIQ preset, 700kbps V/128 AAC @ 44khz (mp4 file)

Tomorrow i will let you know which one is the best (good black color, smooth playback, no chopiness, and even size), and i will try to enhance it. If any of you guys tryed other encoders with other setting, please post feedback.
As for video player, i use the built in media player for mp4, and smart movie and divx for others.

So here are the results:
The "worst" of all 4 encodings was the M3 file. It was 660MB, and black wasn't that black. Video playback was smooth (played with the built in media player), but lacked good quality.
At #3 we have the 600kbps DivX file.. now is the part when it becomes tricky. On DivX player playback was smooth, and quality is way better than the M3 file. Size is 566MB (100MB less and more quality). However on Smart Movie player, sound was behind video. This was a problem to all videos, untill i figured it out, and set sound to -0.76 (in the player). So it ran fine. (was encoded with DivX converter)
2nd place belongs to the 700kbps DivX file, 550MB encoded with smart movie. On smart movie it had the sound desync, but the -0.76 preset fixed it, video quality is even better, but on divX player it ran like 15fps movie or similar. but video and audio was sync-ed.
And the winner is the Xvid file with 768kbps video, and a size of 538MB.. Audio video desync but fixed in smart movie, and played back like 15-20 fps video on divX player.. Quality was almost TV quality, black was black (not greyish, pixelated black), and size was also good. So now i need to do more experiments with DivX and Xvid @ around 750kbps. problem is samrt movie stopped working for me, i have to fix it. always crashes.. some codec problems. Will write soon to review the DivX vs Xvid files.

thatīs a great experiment, but you also should have tried converting with Erighsoft SUPER, its used by alot of us

in terms of xvid/divx playing, core player should also be used for testing

yes but you don't have crop options in SUPER at least when i used it (1 year ago) it didn't have it. Also you can add subtitles with smartmovie. So i found out that 750 Xvid is very good. And about size, well a DivX @ 750 is same as an Xvid with 640, but you can't really see the diffenece, in fact, the Xvid looks better. I will try SUPER again soon, and compare it to smartmovie. Here's a sample of divx and xvid:

Tell me which one is better..
