Sony Ericsson is due to follow Nokia's lead in introducing an unlimited music download service, The Financial Times reports.
According to their report, the phone company - that produces the Walkman-branded mobiles - is currently in discussions with all of the major labels about a rival service.
The plan is apparently to make an announcement before the end of September, to launch in Europe before Christmas.
Sony Ericsson already has per-song agreements with EMI, Warner Music and Sony BMG, but does not currently have a partnership set up with Universal.
Sony Ericsson declined to comment to the FT on the subject.
