Now...as you know, I wonder too why on earth the K850i had a cover covering the lens cover. I thought though before getting it that the lens cover works double as an actual shutter for when taking the pictutre, and I know know it does not, HOWEVER! It actually may...

Now if you have a K850i, I need you to do the following, turn the flash on,
and put the phone camrea to your face and stare at the lens (not the flash or it will hurt your eyes and you will see a while dot in you sight for a while after)
so anyway keep looking at the lens as you take a picture. Do you notice a shutter closing (not the lens cover) but a smaller one right at the far end and it just clicks. However this does not happen when you do not use the flash...try it and discuss.

Yeah it may do that.. Something similar was happening with some K800s when you drop them. Once you open the lens cover you could see the other "lens cover" going out slowly (you can see it no problem)... But doesn't happen in all K800 phones.

I had this when I dropped my k850 once, i could see go right over it. I fixed it by turning it on and off. Shows that the big lens cover is a total gimic

In Nokia N82 there is also an automatic shutter under the lens cover. When you open the lens cover fast then you notice that the shutter is opening under the lens.

I think this for; if we forget to close the lens cover then, the shutter will close after few times when camera software goes standby or close for protection purpose that further light can’t pass through the lens.

Yes I noticed this too on my K810i. Confused the hell out of me once when I opened the sliding cover and saw it.

Can I ask...Um on the K800 with the lens cover that you open manually, is there plastic under it, or is it just the actual lens? Do you know what I mean?

Yeah it is a gimmick I have wondered if I should remove the glass, and just have the lens cover, but I doubt it's very strong just a bit of plastic opening and closing I bet (what would be the point in making a very strong one then having a plastic cover on top?) So yeah I don't think it would be advisable. But um, I always worry that one day it wont open, or something (I've heard that happen) and if it did I'd be so angry, I still can't get over the question what's the point? It's exactly the same as my brothers W810i or whatever with the plastic cover... the only good thing is that when showing it to my friends, it looks quite cool, with the blue light as well. So yeah it looks awsome but does nothing, and the fact that SE advertised it as an amazing automatic lens cover, 'great improvement from other manual opening lens covers on old Cyber-shots' yet funnily enough they went back to it on their new flag ship the C905 eh?

I don't think its a shutter that you are seeing. I notice the same thing on mines, but it only seems to cover the lens when pointed at a bright light. When I point it away at the light, it recedes. It seems to be some kind of glare filter as far as I can tell that only activates when needed.
