Hey guys,

Recently purchased a k800i from my local electronics store. Was the last one in stock and the lady had told me that the sim card was missing so she discounted it by about $10 for me (At the time I was assuming it was a stuff up by my network).

Got home and put in my old SIM card to realise it had been used for about 3 calls on the missing SIM card. Thaught nothing major off it as phone was in beautiful condition and worked fine.

Anyways, purchased a Sony M2 Card off ebay. I inserted the card fully (yes It clicked all the way down) and closed the hatch for the screen to read Memory Stick not inserted.

Turned off the phone and back on for it to ask me to format the card which I did. Straight away a message came up reading "Formatting Failed".

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Apologies if there is another thread with the same question.

sounds like the phone is faulty and the store is trying to unload it onto you rather than stuff around getting a replacement for it from SE.

I'd take it back and ask them to show the phone working with an M2 card from their own stock, otherwise give you your money back. Obviously the phone has been returned once already.

The phone is definately not brand new. It has been returned as max said. Anyway if you can't return the phone or change it, you can try flashing it.

What is the capacity of the M2? Is the capacity within supported limit of your phone? Did you try formatting again? Did you try with another M2 if you have had opportunity?

K800 supports up to 8gb cards (At least with latest firmware) so I don't think the card is bigger than that.

my K800 doesn't even have the latest firmware and it supports 8GB. I'm quite confident it will also support 16GB when it comes out.

just format the memory card in a pc card reader and it will be fine.

I dont think its a phone problem but a M2 problem, try the memory on another phone and see if it work or the same thing happen.

I had that same problem with my k810 with a 512mb, I inserted the memory on a k550 and it didnt work too and the k550 memory worked fine on the k810.

16GB card for my P1... That's what I'll be getting when it's out.
