Hello and welcome to everyone from the Christian community. I have started this thread as we don't have anything on here for people to express their own thoughts and expressions of what they think the bible and being a christian is!
The Islamic corner seems to be going very well and as this forum is multi-cultural and spans the world its nice that two discussions about two different religions can be held in one place.
Feel free to talk openly about your feelings and discuss issues and problems facing the christian community...
No matter what denomination you are come chat!

My first sort of discussion i would like to start is that I am due to start a Theology in Religious Studies degree including Pastoral Leadership as an extra. This will hopefully lead onto me being even more involved with my local Church if England church which i am a choir member and regular reader at.
I feel that the recent divide showing over gay bishops is causing many people to be disheartened about the love and welcome spirit that christianity is all about!
A lot of religions follow texts and books that are over 1000 yrs old and i think we should modernise and bring these books into the 21st century and start to consider that people change and so do the communities they live in! If we dont change then it will be only a very small number who end up following the religion and surely this would then cause further issues and maybe even the falling apart of some of the denominations.
I'm hoping that younger members of the church will speak up and try to change the direction that the modern church seems to be going and get us back on the righteous track of christianity! |

True that V-J, i actually trained as a baptist minister some 25 years ago, i am neutral on the subject of religion these days, however, the focus should be on the love of Christ given to ALL men rather than OT rules and regs!!

Very true that, all the members of various religions have a healthy respect for one another on here, something the Nokia and SE fans should take note of

Yes true. Actually im a SE and Nokia fan so i dont argue. Lol. Anyway whenever i feel down or need some peace i sit in silence in any church and think and pray. Cos in this crazy cruel world i feel to me god is one person i can turn to. I lost my mother to cancer ten years ago and it was her who taught me so much. I speak to her everyday and i feel her there everyday. She was a good kind hearted Irish woman. I miss her and believe i will see her again. That keeps me going everyday when i think of her. |

I'm a Christian but I'm not a regular church goer. I believe in God and believe there is an afterlife also. I wouldn't mind being part of the Jedi Knight religion though...would have to include a lightsaber if I was to change over lol.

Well you may as well make a 'corner' thread for that. Seems like there's a corner for everything else!

Cheers brothers.
I'm a Portuguese catholic too (i guess closer to our Irish mate), despite not practicing it much (going to church that is...).
About all these religious conflicts and all.
Unfortunately, we also had our share of "infidel-killing" with the cruzades in the beggining of the last millenium, the Inquisition later (although Spain was more agressive with that, Portugal had its own too).
Fortunately, those days are gone, and compassion and respect for all men our now Christians and Catholics guidelines. |
