P1I irritating noise - how to turn off? |

I have a P1i, nice phone as far as it goes, but there is one thing, you might think minor, that really bugs me about it.
It is this: when I lock the phone, when I accidentally press the keys, which I frequently do in my pocket, it goes "beep [high tone] - beep [low tone]". I sound like a robot as I walk along.
I have searched through the manual, and the menus, but cannot find how to turn it off.
Any ideas anyone?
thanks!

Don't know for such problem, but you can try disabling (turning off) the touchscreen and keyboard sounds from control panel.

thanks, tried that, this particular beep-beep does not seem to turn off, and I want to keep the other clicks, which I find quite useful.
Sounds like there is no other way known to mankind?

I believe the tones you're talking about are what the phone emits when the battery is low. This could mean that either your battery is loose or faulty, causing the current dlivery to the phone to drop and making it think the battery is running out. Of course this could also be due to a fault in the phone itself.
If I were you I'd start by placing a thin bit of card underneath the battery cover, to ensure a decent contact, and then getting a new battery. If this doesn't fix it, then you'll have to get the phone repaired/replaced.
Anothe thing you could try is cleaning the battery contacts with a pencil eraser - this will remove any dirt/grease from the pins. |

thanks AD, but the battery is by no means low - this is the sounds it emits when you press enter against an incorrect password to unlock the phone.
the irritation is that I inevitably press the thing accidentally while it is in my pocket, making it make the sound that says I have entered an incorrect password.
No problems with the battery or the contacts - as I say, it is perhaps minor, but I am surprised that it doesn't irritate other people, it is something that has annoyed me about the P series since the P900.

Oh, I see, well I guess you could disable the need for a code to unlock the phone. I know this makes it less secure, but seing as you can get it rendered unuseable (as a phone) if it were to be stolen, I think the financial risk is minimal. Also, you are in danger of it locking you out completely due to repeated failed unlock attempts. Of course there's always the notion that if someone really wanted to find out your phone's lock code, all they would need to do is to hook it up to XS++.... |

thanks again, sounds like it can't be done.
as I say, I'm surprised that it doesn't really annoy other people as it does me, perhaps I'm just picky.

Hmm so there is why it's not at my phone. Actually I never use protection codes at all. Not even PIN

You are crazy not to protect the codes - I don't know where you live, but here in the UK if it gets stolen and someone runs up a huge bill, then the company will make you pay for the illegal usage.
Definitely worth getting a password.

I also never use passwords and PINs. I have a subscription but if I loose it of gets stolen,I'll call in imidiatelly and lock the number. If you leave it, yes, people will try to talk overseas but if you lock it right away, that's it.

Get advanced device locks to lock phone and all applications u think are protect worthy .
It also has the option of asking password on startup and on sim card change.
Plus it doesnt make any irritating noises
As for running up huge bills, the phone system lock by itself is no protection, if stolen the thief can always use the sim card on another phone or simply flash the phone using XS++ and then use the phone without your lock
You might also want to have cellphone anti theft, which silently sends an sms to a predetermined number if your sim card is changed.

which is why you should put a password on the SIM as well.
I have seen several people caught out by this, they think they know where the phone is all the time, by the time they realise it is missing, someone has run up a huge bill for them.
