Hi all. Im thinking of buying SE G502 but have some question that has not been answered:

1) Can we charge the battery of this phone while connects it to a notebook as HSDPA modem? Coz I'm kind of person who are going to be online for at least 3-4 hours per session. After that kind of activitiy, does it feel excessively warm or its just normal and good to go?

2) Is "SE PC Suite" is as user friendly as Nokia PC Suite? Especially when trying to connect to the internet as a modem.

Any response would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

@ AkuKL

1) All SE Phones charges when connected through USB cable, so your G502 will charge its battery when connected to your laptop via USB cable.

2) SE PC Suite from the version 3.0 (3.2 is the current version, i think) and above is good, IMO better than Nokia PC Suite.

Thanks for a very informative reply. How about the phone itself? Is it feel excessively warm after 3-4 hours heavy download (including P2P)? How about after 3-4 hours of normal web browsing/download? Can it withstand that kind of usage? In other words, is it designed to withstand that kind of usage?

Of course it can. You'll very rarely find a phone that gets warm when used intensively or when it gets charged.

Thanks for the reply. Good to hear that.

Is there anything that you all think i should know before i go out and buy this phone? Anything, especially the one related to its function as HSDPA modem since I'm going to use this phone primarily as a modem. Can i answer/make a call without getting my internet disconnected?

Its Java support for application is not just limited to 1MB of size like in Nokia S40 OS right? Coz i need to install Oxford Dictionary full version on it.

If you have got a good 3G reception, you can make/answer call without disconnecting from the internet.

AFAIK there is no 1 mb size limit for Java Applications on SE phones.

i don't have this phone, but i have C702 & W910 - almost the same user interface and connectivity options. So i can say its good to use it as a HSDPA modem.

That means that there is currently no software update available for your region.

I use my V640i as a HSDPA modem and it works great via USB but has been unstable using a BT link. I think it's a firmware issue but don't know for sure. I've not heard of anyone else having this problem but I've had 2 V640i's in a row that suffer from this.

The V640i charges via USB but my V800 does not so you'll probably find that only the fastport equipped phones (all current models) will do this.

You can make calls and browse at the same time; my V800 does this also but if you click on the taskbar symbol and choose to close your internet connection it will hang up your call...

Overall, I'm very satisfied with using my as my primary modem and recieving my emails on it too.

Will be looking forward to you comments, especially concerning the BT modem stability, the Netfront browser vs Opera Mini 4.1 (if you decide to try it out) and the email client. The G502 would have been a truly great package if it had Wifi too, but c'est la vie.
